24’s Jack Bauer has made it to the United Kingdom’s top ten most popular characters based on a recent survey. As a matter of fact, he lands in on the number two spot just next to David Tennant’s character Doctor Who. Looks like the acting efforts of Kiefer Sutherland have paid off significantly as he drastically gave life to his television character. No wonder he has won numerous awards and nominations from various award-giving bodies like the Golden Globe Awards, Emmy Awards, Screen Actor Guild Awards and Television Critics Association Awards among others.
For Doctor Who, its top ranking character is highly anticipated since the long-running British science fiction series has been fondly regarded since its premier in 1963. The same actually goes for 24’s Jack Bauer, even though the duration of the show has not yet surpassed Doctor Who, it has acquired massive fame and recognition over the past seven years.
Jack Bauer, personified by actor Kiefer Sutherland, is the protagonist of the popular series 24. Highly knowledgeable as a government agent, a member of the United States Army Delta Force, LADP SWAT and the Counter Terrorist Unit, he has distinctly established himself as a fierce defender of civilians and government officials. Apart from the great acting skills of Sutherland, what makes Jack Bauer stand out is his unique character plot.
Jack Bauer dives in a pool of action and thriller in a real-time setting environment with intricate complexities. And although most of his endeavors entail brutal and vicious violence and action-packed scenes, Jack Bauer has become one of the most popular and well-liked characters in the United States, and apparently in other parts of the world just like in the United Kingdom.
The recent poll, which appears to be reasonable at some point, includes some debatable names which seem to be quite outdated, and excludes other characters who appear to be more promising in terms of fame and popularity.
