Playa del Carmen Homes – Small Town Atmosphere, Big Opportunities

Over the past decade, the real estate market in Playa del Carmen has grown substantially, providing many excellent investment and residential opportunities. Playa del Carmen Home, condo and land options have become available to buyers of many different tastes, with one main feature in common: a high quality beachfront lifestyle. Over the next decade, this growth is expected to continue, and further Playa del Carmen Properties will become available to buyers who want the best of beachfront living. While this growth continues, Playa del Carmen has also shown an incredible ability to preserver it's unique small town atmosphere, blended with European style.
Population forecasts suggest that Playa del Carmen and the nearby Cancun will experience the strongest growth in real estate on the Yucatan Peninsula between now and 2017. A recent report indicates that Playa del Carmen's population will double during this time, rising from about 150,000 to slightly over 300,000. Cancun, which is currently at about 600,000 is expected to grow to slightly over 900,000, which would make it the largest city in the Yucatan Peninsula (it's expected be neck in neck with Merida around that time.)
While Playa del Carmen remains, and will continue to remain, significantly smaller than Cancun, it also has another feature which is perhaps even more important to real estate buyers is its special ability to retain its small town atmosphere, blended with a European style, while continuing to offer further conveniences and services of a larger community. As Cancun grows, it becomes more defined by an impersonal, larger city atmosphere, defined by highrises and long distances.
Playa del Carmen, on the other hand, has grown in size and in a few short years, adding two malls, a couple of movie theaters, several large supermarkets, many restaurants, cafes and little shops to the services available to home owners and residents in the area. Many new properties have also become available for home buyers, as well as Playa del Carmen Land opportunities for those who wish to build their own dream home. But in the course of this change, the atmosphere of the famous Fifth Avenue and much of the city has retained its original small town feel, adding only a touch of European style to it.
