Many people out there right now I am sure are wanting to make money from home to beat off the recession. It is actually a good time to be looking at setting yourself up and inspiring to not let something like the recession affect you in the future.

All recessions are usually ended by entrepreneurs and small businesses. This happens when either individuals get fed up and decide to take matters into their own hands becoming entrepreneurs themselves, or when the established entrepreneurs and small businesses figure out new ways to work around the situation and start moving forward again. It is a fact that the majority of new jobs in America come from the small business sector. Large companies either keep the number of employees they already have or learn ways to reduce that number.

There are many ways you can go into business for yourself.

You could take a hobby and find a way to turn that into a service making extra income on the side. Maybe you are good with your hands and can build or craft items for sale out of your home, at flea markets, craft fairs etc...

Another way is to offer a service such as cleaning homes or watching children. These are often good ways for a little extra income.

Those of you that dream of financial independence will often join network or multi-level marketing companies figuring this is the quickest way to make your dreams a reality. However, more often than not many of you will get caught up in the emotion of the moment without thoroughly looking into the different companies out there. Some companies are more successful than others and providing the know-how for people to truly become successful this way and in a timely manner.

The problem with all of this is that 97% of all businesses fail within the first 5 years. The majority of those that go into business for themselves will spend more money than they make and eventually quit. It is a very scary truth. The difference between the 97% and the 3%, however, is the "can do" "never say die" attitude and the effort to continually seek knowledge to make it all work.

There are many successful stories of people that didn't go to college such as Mary Kay Ash from Mary Kay Cosmetics, Richard Branson owner of Virgin Brand, Michael Dell started Dell Inc. These are fine examples of what can be accomplished when you set your mind to it. Do not let education, peers, or obstacles get in your way. If you think it and stick to it you can make it happen for yourself. Sure you might fail along the way, but that does not mean you stop until you have succeeded.
