So many people are now adopting the green lifestyle and for good reasons, too. After all, you cannot deny the fact that the benefits of going green far outweigh the costs, if ever there really are costs to going green.

Save the Environment

The overriding reason and benefit for going green is to protect the environment from further harm. Our activities on earth have affected the delicate balance of nature, often in negative ways. We have abused the earth by throwing our trash every which way, by exploiting natural resources in the most destructive ways, and by our failure to restore what we have taken away.

With your decision to go green, you can do your part in reversing such negative effects on the environment. Together, the efforts can add up.

Save the Economy

Did you know that by going green, you are saving the economy currently beset by recession? There are many ways that this is made possible:

  • Switching to solar and wind power means more jobs in the renewable energy industry are sustained, even created by increasing demand.

  • Patronizing local organic farmers provides more jobs to the agricultural sector in your area. You buy local fresh produce because it means lesser emissions via transport.

  • Going to the local supermarket instead of driving to the biggest mall in the city means more infusion of cash for the local economy.

  • Lesser costs on the health system since fewer people are getting sick.

Save Your Health

Again, there are many ways that going green can save your health. First, since you will patronize more organic produce, your body gets more than its fair share of nutrients without the toxins found in commercial fertilizers and pesticides.

Second, you can get your exercise while saving on gas costs. After all, to spare the environment your car's greenhouse gases, you will choose to walk, run, or ride a bike instead. Now, that's exercise without the gym membership.

Third, you will be able to reduce your inhalation of toxic chemicals around the house. This is because you will be using organic cleaning materials, eco-friendly decorative ornaments, and non-toxic supplies. For example, instead of purchasing chemical cleaners with toxic fumes, you will resort to homemade cleaners with little to no fumes. Think along the lines of baking soda and vinegar.

Fourth, you can get sufficient number of hours sleep, thus, better health. How? Well, you will more inclined to sleep better because your finances are getting rosier as you engage in recycling, reducing and reusing, all of which save and earn money for you.

Probably more than anything else, going green impacts on your health and lifestyle first and foremost. The fact that it also positively affects the environment and the economy are great bonuses.
