Set goals. Goal setting is vital to any endeavor. If you want to succeed, you need to set some goals. You can try to set a combination of long and short term goals. Also, let some of the short term goals pave the way for accomplishing your long term goals. This way you get the instant gratification of reaching your short term goals and can stay motivated to reach your long term ones. Write them down and display them somewhere you can see them daily, on your computer, on the wall, on the fridge. Be as detailed or as vague as you wish, just set your goals and begin striving for them!
Learn time management. Time management is a real toughie for some people. The get distracted and veer off course, not realizing how much time that eats out of their day. Start off with a simple schedule. Set aside specific times for checking email, going through the snail mail, returning calls and marketing. You can leave a little flexibility in case a customer or prospect needs your attention, but try to set a schedule for yourself so that you can complete your tasks with minimal distractions. You can also use checklists to make certain that all your required tasks are completed.
Don't quit your day job. Don't quit your day job just yet. Building a new business takes time, but you need money to live. When you are building your MLM home based business you do not need to quit your job and invest a ton of money to get it off the ground. Good time management will allow you to work at your job and work at home and eventually you will be able to get rid of that 9 to 5 and strike out on your own!
Don't go it alone. MLM home businesses are structured in such a way that you have tremendous support. Take advantage of that. At least at first you will have many questions and concerns. Go ahead and ask. Use that support system; learn from what the seasoned MLM networkers have learned over time. Your ability to listen is one best business building tools you will ever have. Let the guys who have already been in the trenches share with you what they have learned about what works and what doesn't in building and promoting your business.
Social networking works. Social networking can really boost your page rankings and drive traffic to your site. There are a number of ways to do this. You can include your link in your email signature as well as signatures on forums where you regularly post. You can also post to forums, establish yourself as an expert and invite people to your site. Caution though. Being labled a spammer is something you definitely do not want. Mention your site every now and them, but post other things too that do not mention your link. Just get in there and answer questions, let them know that you are an expert and that you can be trusted.
Work but make time for play. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. It also makes him a burned out boy. Don't get so lost in your work, in your efforts to grow your company, that you lose yourself and your perspective on your priorities. Remember your family, friends, your pets, yourself and make time for them all. Take care of yourself because if you are burned out or experiencing family troubles due to your checking out on the family to focus completely on your business, you will be distracted and you productivity will be significantly lower.
Passive income can get you by. Passive income is what drives an MLM home based business. You recruit people to work under you and you enjoy the passive income that comes your way from their sales. Other forms of passive income include network marketing like affiliate programs, pay per click programs and link exchanges. All of these will generate you income and you have no direct involvement in any of them. This can work whether you are just starting out or are a seasoned pro. Get involved in a few programs and watch your profits soar!
Value your customers. This is important. Your customers are your paycheck. Tell your customers how much you value them. Use a good responder email system that contains good content and that works as it should. When a customer submits a comment or question to your site, you want them to immediately get a note back letting them know that the comment or question has been received and that someone will call them within X amount of time. This lets your customers know that you value what they have to say and that you do not want to leave them hanging. When you tell your prospect that you will call them at a specific time be sure and do just that.
Don't wrangle your prospects. Don't use deceit to get your prospects. By the same token, don't beg either. People do not like being manipulated or lied to in order to get them to do something. Be confident with your prospects, be up front, non evasive and if they are not interested, move on. If they see you on a regular basis, they will likely see how successful you are becoming, how happy you are and are bound to ask you what is your secret. Then you'll have them!
Think positive. Positivity breeds positivity. If you think positive, have faith and believe in yourself, you will succeed. Keep your thoughts positive, your actions positive and your words positive. Positive things will come your way.
