American sitcoms have unleashed a style storm on the UK, with shows like The Hills, Glee and Gossip Girl upping the designer stakes from across the pond. So who’s who and who’s the most stylish?
First up is Kristin Cavallari of The Hills, who always manages to look effortlessly gorgeous in her style staple: a simple tank dress, flip flops and flouncy blonde tresses. Recreate this look for yourself with one of our little black dresses and a pair of Gladiator sandals from our range of fun, flirty womens clothing which bring effortless glam to the high street.
Another hot new favourite amongst fashion watchers is Amber Riley, who plays diva Mercedes on Glee. She has heaps of talent and no lack of style – she proved it by wearing our very own ink-coloured notch neck dress to the People's Choice Awards earlier this month.
But it is Gossip Girl which has made the biggest impression in style stakes. Hot fashion favourites to follow include characters Serena Van Der Woodsen and Blair Waldorf. Best friends in the show, the two girls have unique styles, and their influence has begun to show in the UK.
Blair’s style is classic, preppy, and polished and she loves to incorporate feminine touches like lace, bows, and ruffles into her outfits. Visit us in store and online to find lots of girly pieces that Blair herself would approve of – like our flirty mint ruffle tunic dress and our fun black and white spotty mack.
Serena favours tops and dresses with unexpected details to express her quirky style, so it’s all about studs, sequins, patterns, or an eye catching pattern. Add a cute cardi for day or a sleek pair of wet-look leggings and ankle boots for night.
It’s not just the clothes which are so coveted. Blake Lively, who plays Serena, has extra long, ultra-shiny blonde tresses with a pretty twist at the end which has been keeping UK hairdressers busy as more and more people ask for the style. It looks set to become the new "Rachel" or "Posh".
It’s easier than you think to get the look for yourself too, even if you have short hair: just add our beautifully easy to use Salon Confidential Volume Curl extensions and be camera ready in moments! The extensions come in a range of colours and three distinct styles, so no matter what colour or length your hair, you can easily replicate a variety of sassy styles with ease.
