Modern day televisions have several input devices. They can be connected to a wide range of devices like VCRs, DVRs and DVD players. The TV sets can also be connected to various game systems. These include Sony PlayStation also. Just by changing the TV’s input mode, we can control what we want to see. This facility though is not available with the old generation TV sets. But this does not imply that people with older TV sets cannot have the fun of a PlayStation. To enable an older TV set to be connected to a PlayStation, you need to follow some steps. Its initiation starts with the installation of an A/V receiver.
Older television sets only a single input. But for the connection of the advanced devices, you need to combine various feeds into a single component before sending the signal to the television. It is here that the A/V receiver comes into play and is of use. Usually the old TV sets have only one input. So before you act, check for the number of inputs. You then need to install the A/V receiver near the television and plug it into a power source. Once the receiver is powered on, you need to refer to the receiver’s manual to determine the inputs it has and how you can use them. The manual will also help you to control the input modes and transfer them to the monitor output.
If you want to see you PlayStation to be connected to the television, then it is time to work with it. Connect the PlayStation to the A/V receiver through the appropriate input. There is a special connection cord that PlayStation has with it. In the gaming device’s cord, there is a flat style plug on the PlayStation end and a standard RCA connection at the other end. The RCA is denoted by red white and yellow tips. You can then plug the flat connector into the PlayStation and the RCA style connectors into the corresponding inputs on the receiver. Most A/V receivers have a video input that can be used for game systems. Some higher end models have game inputs specifically for the PlayStation or other game systems.
You can now connect your satellite system to the receiver. For this, the receiver’s manual will come handy. This will help you to make proper and safe connection, depending on the make and the model of the TV. Most A/V receivers have a satellite input for this connection. Now you should make a connection to between the receiver’s monitor output and the television's input. Connect the PlayStation's output to one of the television's RCA style inputs. You need to refer to the television’s specific owner’s manual for information regarding the input modes. It will guide you to switch input modes between the satellite and PlayStation. Your television is now ready for the desired output. This way you are ready to access the game system through the satellite TV connection. This is easy simple and also allows you to take the benefit of the dish TV connection.
