Every person has a story tell, whether good bad, every story matters. There is a story I once heard about a rich woman who wanted to buy a pair of gold shoes.

There were only two stores in her country that sold these two shoes, and so she wanted to test each store and see which one deserved her money. The way that she decided to test each store, was to dress up as a beggar. She knew that most stores were weary of beggars and that is why dressing up as one would surely let her know what store was genuine in their service.

When she arrived in the first store, she slowly entered in with torn clothes and dirt on her face. As she approached the gold shoes that were on display, the young sales lady standing nearby quickly took hold of the shoes and with a weary smile politely told her that the shoes were real gold, and perhaps another set of shoes would be better for her. The woman sadly shook her head and kindly told the sales lady who she really was and what she was doing. The sales ladies face was heavy with regret as she tried to persuade the woman to stay. However, sadly she lost her chance.

As the rich woman neared the second store, she saw the sales lady standing right next to the entrance. Upon entering, the sales lady also gave her a double look and a weary smile, but instead of turning her away, she welcomed the woman in and gave her a chance to look around. When the rich woman looked at the golden shoes, the sales lady kindly showed it to her and even allowed her to try it on. She patiently explained that the shoes were rare, and it would be a wonderful thing for the person who bought it. The rich woman then bought the shoes, because the sales lady had not turned her down based on appearance, and still make an effort to persuade her into buying it.

I believe that we can all consider this story as we write our sales copy. When you are writing a sales copy, it is important that you keep in mind that what you are writing is to persuade your prospective customers into buying your product. Since you are selling through the Internet, you won’t have the same experience as the sales ladies who got a look at the woman "beggar", but it is still important that when you want to sell your product, you must keep in mind that it is for everyone.

Some great tips into catching the attention of your customers are the following:

1.) Make a catchy headline. Grab their attention just by a word or a phrase. You want them to be able to see that your product is the answer their problems. Once you grab their attention through your headline, maintain by making your first paragraph interesting. Put in a funny experience or a story that they can relate to, and then find a way to connect it with your product.

2.) Try to avoid using too many abbreviations or terms that they may not understand. Since you’re trying to sell your product to the mass, it is important that you think as they would think. If you were a prospective customer, you would want to be able to understand everything the product has to offer. So if there are long terms that you need to abbreviate, be sure to explain them all. It’s also a plus factor when the testimony you put of others people who have used your products are credible. Honesty from the beginning will bring you a long way with your future customers.

3.) Depending on what your product is, offering great benefits and bonuses can also get customers excited. When they see that you have much to offer, it can easily persuade them more. Finally, never forget the "Call to Action" make it very clear what you want your caller to do. It’s either, "Pick up the phone and call", "Sign up now", "Join our forum", and many more words or phrases that will allow them to take clear action! In the end, what matters is that your customers take action in getting what you have to offer!
