Red Wine is one of the oldest beverages with its thousand of years spans and also suggested that a glass of red wine each day may be providing you with more than just a little relaxation or vasodilate and health benefits. In accordance to its benefits, it is common for us that red wine may reduced the risk of death from nearly all causes. According to the researches from UK, DenMark, France and even in France that drinking red wine moderately is more beneficial than beers or spirits.
With so many benefits of red wine to our health, resveratrol might be a key ingredient in red wine that helps prevent damage to blood vessels, reduces bad cholesterol and prevents blood clots. Red wine is a rich source of resveratrol, and contains significantly more resveratrol than white wine. This is because the grape skins are left in with the juice for longer when making red wine, and the skins are where most of the resveratrol is found.
Resveratrol In A Mice
Most research on resveratrol has been transmitted on animals, not people. In 2008, researchers at the University of Ulm in Germany found that resveratrol protected laboratory mice that were fed a high-calorie diet from the health problems of obesity, by simulating the effects of calorie restriction. Their research in mice given resveratrol has revealed that the antioxidants might also help protect them from obesity and diabetes, both of which are strong risk factors for heart disease.
Researchers also indicated that to get the same dose of resveratrol used in the mice studies, a person would have to consume 100 to 1,000 bottles of red wine a day.
About Red Wine Consumptions
According to Zhai, A WebMD.com says that by a proper consumptions of red wine with resveratrol, it came up to a conclusion that:
Red wine with resveratrol will oxidize for about 4 hours after opening.
Resveratrol exhibits therapeutic potential for cancer chemoprevention as well as cardioprotection.
Red wine with the amount of 1 to 3 gs of resveratrol in a full bottle if a wine does, in fact, contain resveratrol, is insufficient for many of the biological activities, according to some researchers based on their findings, "people might need to drink about three liters of red wine each day to get sufficient resveratrol approximately 15 milligrams for its biological effects".
However, researchers at the Universuity of Hertfordshire, Dr. Richard Hoffman and his Erasmus student Conny Johansson tested a random selection of red wines to calculate their levels of resveratrol. According to Dr Hoffman, although the health benefits of resveratrol found in red wine have been well documented, no one has systematically measured its levels in particular wines before.
Dr. Richard Hoffman and Conny Johansson are using a high-powered High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometery (LCMS) to distinguish and obtain the compounds found in the wines and they also aim to work with wine suppliers and retailers so that they can persuade them to put health indicators on their products. "As a result, they assume that all red wines are the same, but this is certainly not the case as the levels of resveratrol vary." Dr. Hoffman said.
Today, resveratrol is often called as "The New Fountain Of Youth", "The French Paradox" and even "Super Anti-Oxidant and Anti-Aging". Further research into the potential heath benefits of resveratrol is continuing.
