Ask ten physicians about weight loss and you are likely to get ten different answers. This led us to spreading healthy weight loss tips from a nutritionist's standpoint. When it comes down to it, a healthy diet is one that you can live on for the remainder of your life. It must contain all the food groups and have enough calories to sustain energy throughout the day. The following are tips to achieve healthy and permanent weight loss.

Tips for Eating Fruits and Vegetables -

Fruits and vegetables provide needed nutrition to the body. They are a great source of vitamins, minerals, fiber, antioxidants, probiotics, and digestive enzymes.

" Tip - Whole foods like fruits and vegetables are a key component to any successful diet.

If you are not fond of vegetables, then you need to select your vegetables by nutritional density. The rule of thumb is the brighter or darker the color the more nutrients it has.

" Tip - Color is the key. The more colorful the fruit or vegetable, the more nutrients it has.

For example, I do not like lettuce, as odd as that sounds. This means when I choose lettuce, I will choose the lettuce that has the most nutrients. Iceberg lettuce has very little nutrients so I skip over that all together. (You can tell this because it is the least green.) If I must use lettuce, I go for Romaine. It is very dark green and is packed with nutrients. However, if I can get away with it, I purchase raw baby spinach. It too is very dark green and uncooked it does not have the smell of canned spinach. In addition, the taste is so different that you would never guess it is spinach.

" Tip - Cooking fruits and vegetables will reduce the nutritional value.

Tips for Eating Protein -

Everyone needs protein in his or her diet. It is required to maintain healthy muscle. However, you have many choices when it comes to consuming protein. Do not think you can only get it from meat. You have plenty of options.

" Tip - Protein is available in meat, poultry, beans, and nuts.

If you have high cholesterol or high triglycerides, then you need to stay away from your fattier cuts of meat. Chicken and fish will be your best option for animal protein but an occasional lean cut of meat is fine too.

" Tip - Buy a can of chicken for a quick meal. Simply place chicken and mozzarella made from part-skim milk on a tortilla. Then fold in half and place in microwave for a quick and healthy chicken quesadilla.

For those vegetarians out there, you need to get plenty of protein as well. An easy way is with peanut butter. Buy the sugar free kind or the organic kind to keep the calories low. Just watch out for the fat content. Peanuts are good for you but contain a high amount of fat. Some other options include soybeans, various nuts, and various beans.

" Tip - Keep a can of vegetarian refried beans around the house for those picky eaters.

Finding a Nutritionist -

Finding a nutritionist to help is easier than you think. All you need to do is find a chiropractor that works with Progressive Rehab. While you probably do not need this treatment, those chiropractors work closely with nutritionist. You can get all the support you need in one location.
