"Martisor" legend it’s a miracle one, and it’s known from centuries in 2 variants.
Once upon a time, the sun comes down in a village, looking like a simple human for a celebrating of a holiday. A dragon stolen the sun and take him in prison. All the world that surround us became very sad and in a grey color. Nobody had the courage to fight with the dragon and to save the sun and the hall nature. One day, a young husky man decided to escape the sun from the prison. His way taken 3 seasons, summer, spring, and autumn, but finally he found the dragon’s castle. They fought days and months, till the dragon was shot down. Finally the nature and people have seen the sunrise, the hall nature become alive, everybody have been happy, only the young man that save the sun, weakened by wounds felt down on the earth. The blood pouring from his wounds on the white snow, and where a blood drop felt rise a flower.
So from that times people make trinkets (white and red) white – to symbolize the purity of the snowdrop that rise heated by the man’s blood, red- to symbolize love for all the beautiful things. Since our time on the first of mars people offer a "Martisor" in a gift to his/her lovely person.
According to the second legend, on the first of mars Spring went for a walk in the forest. She saw there between the shrubs a small white flower. It was so cold outside and Spring covered with her warm hand the flower. Angry, Winter sent the fierce snowstorm and the frost to destroy the flower. In that moment Spring covered the flower and cut her finger of a root. A warm drop of blood felt on the flower and hit it, remaining a stain of red blood on the white snow. So the "Martisor" symbolize red Spring’s blood and white snow.
"Martisor" it’s celebrated in Eastern Europe countries, but in each of them the small trinket that we give to lovely persons looks different according to it’s own specific and tradition.

Huba sent the falcon with a red slaw( Boians blood) to the king, to tel him about the tragedy that happens with his brother. On the first of mars all Bulgarian wear white-red trinkets, men on the the wright foot sock, young girl on the left part of her dress, women- small thinger of their left hand. Even the animals wear the trinkets, as a protection from " Marta"- a angry old woman that always brimgs the cold winter to the place where is she going, usually she comes on the 28-29 of February.
