The detoxifying fast naturally includes some foods and excludes others. One

does not want to be consuming cooked foods or dairy products. Use also coconut

water instead of water which has unwanted chemicals. Instead of coconut water

one can also use water which is purified. Eat no foreign fruits. Use only local

fruits and vegetables in season.

Use no sweeteners except for sugar cane and/or cane juice.

Nutritionists also advise that you should have at least one glass of green

juice daily. "Green comes packed with an artillery of iron, calcium, vitamin

C, folic acid and cancer fighting antioxidants such as beta-carotene".

"It's also useful to use aloe vera blended with grapefruit juice or some

of the green juice. Just before bed, one third aloe blended with grape fruit

juice while detoxing".

The Plan

The detoxification plan consists of fruit as much and as frequently as desired.

Drink fruit juices, coconut water, soft coconut jelly (optional), carrot, beet

root juice, green juice and aloe vera. One could do this for three days.

For a seven-day detoxification plan, one could do this for six days but on

day four, have juices only. The nutritionists also advise that exercising to

the point of perspiration vastly improves the efficiency for the detox.

"Exercise treats the body like a sponge squeezing the toxins out. Walking

for at least half an hour each day is good. If one has not been exercising before,

start gently and work your way up to half an hour."

If you are suffering from chronic conditions such as hypertension and diabetes,

this detox fast is not for you.

If you are not sure about your health status, check with your medical doctor

before embarking on the fast. Secondly, if you experience headaches, nausea

and vomiting, stop immediately. To prevent these during the detox, consume fluid

at regular periods. Consume as much as one gallon of water per day.

It is noteworthy that breaking the detox is almost as important as detox itself.

For the first day of afternoon detox you may have a vegetarian salad - raw and

free of dairy products.

Fat

The salad should contain a healthy source of fat such as avocado or an olive

oil-based dressing, a source of moisture such as tomato, cucumber or lettuce.

It should also have a source of fresh fruits which add excitement to the salad,

such as papaya or pineapple, or a source of wholesome season such as onion ginger

and pepper. Use a dash of orange or passion fruit juice as a dressing poured

on salad.

Alternatively one could have a soup broth made from cooking vegetables with

seasoning. Mild infusions of mint or fever grass are also welcome. By the end

of first day you can have lightly steamed veggies.

After you detox your body,

you should seize the opportunity to embark on a lifestyle with regular exercise

to keep the organs of elimination functional and to remove toxins from the body.

You should also reduce the amount of animal fats as well as frying in the diet

and increase consumption of fresh fruit and vegetables. Focus, also, on using

whole grains rather than those which are processed. Ensure that you get adequate

sleep to recharge and rejuvenate the body, as sleep itself is a fast and necessary

for the body to organize toxin elimination.
