Why More Kids Today Are Overweight

You see it in schools all around the country. You see it while walking around a mall. You even see it when you are out walking down the street. What do you See? Overweight kids. These children are huge. I know you think to yourself just like everyone else about how these children got so fat. If you sit back and think about the kids in today's society, it really is not that hard to see why these children are as obese as they are.
In order to stay at you current weight or even lose weight, you have to burn off more calories than you take in. Here in lies the decisive factor with overweight kids.
Kids today are just plain lazy. They do not want to do anything but sit in front of a TV and play video games. When they are not playing their video games, they are just watching plain old TV. While they are sitting there in the chair of on the couch for hour after hour, They are eating things like potato chips and candy. They are drinking soda or juice. They are taking in calories and not burning any of them off. This results in the body storing all that extra sugar as fat.
When these kids are in school, they do not do anything there either. They do not participate in school athletics. They probably try every thing they can to get out of gym class to. There whole day is spent waiting until they can get home and sit their butts back in front of the TV and start those video games again. I have seen it first hand. My nephew and all his friends each have a portable TV. They have xbox parties. Every one meets at the same house. They all bring their TVs and game consoles. There big activity for the night really is no activity at all, except for their fingers moving at rapid speeds. You will not burn any calories doing that.
Another thing that contributes to kids being overweight is lack of guidance. This falls squarely on the shoulders of the parents. Most of the time, if you see an obese kid, their parents are the same way. Kids emulate their parents. So if the parents are fat, the kid will either consciously or subconsciously make themselves look like them. Of course the selection of food in the house probably is not that great either.
By getting kids active and involved in doing things other than sitting and playing video games and showing them the right way and the right things to eat, you will be doing your child a huge favor. They will not have to go through all the teasing of being overweight in school.
Show your kids how to respect their bodies. Eat right. Put down the chips and pick up an apple. Get the kids outside and do things that require physical exertion. You will keep the fat off of them. You will also be doing their heart good to.
