On a regular basis people tell me that they they find it hard to go and tackle the "big niches" and are not sure what niche to get involved with as they are afraid of all the big names competing within the same niche or within the same area.
What I think to this is absolute rubbish! At the end of the day competition is great for us and our business as we can use this to our advantage in many ways than we think. You have to see it like this, if you look away from Internet Marketing and take for example any big company. When a smaller company comes along do you think they go "Oh no we can't compete with company X, because they have been around for a long time"
Whilst some people think that competition will ruin them and it will take them longer to get going, I see other people working in a different dimension and they go and say, "I am going to compete within this niche and do a very good job of it" here are a few reasons why competition is great for Internet Marketers.
-
You can see what your competitors are doing and try to do a better job of it
-
You have ideas when it come to your own product creation
-
Instead of competing join them (JV Partners, Affiliates)
So for example, instead of us going out and trying to beat someone and "compete" with them we can just use what they have as our leverage point and just piggyback of there success, so let me break down each one of the points so it is easier to understand.
You can see what your competitors are doing and try to do a better job of it
So if we have our competitors in the weight loss niche, as I said this is a massive niche to compete in, but at the same time you have to realise how many "sub-niches" there are also, so the best thing to do is to see what our competitors are doing and try to do a better job. As all of the work has been basically put on a plate for us already, if we are looking to do an AdWords campaign we can find out what keywords our competitors are using. If we want to do some article marketing, we can see what articles are getting read the most, if we are looking to give away free gifts we see what our competition is giving away and try to make ours better. The thing is we are all competing on the same playing field and as you know the only thing stopping us from getting our product spotted from the others, is usual traffic to our page. What I always suggest is that whoever you are competing against see if they have an opt in list and if so opt in to their list to get their emails and see what they are doing and all you have to do is replicate what they are doing but in your own style.
You have ideas when it come to your own product creation
This is great and it works for any niche that you are involved with whether it is "Make money" or even golf we can see what our competitors products and what they are selling and once again all we do is look what they are doing and go and make ours 10 times better! It sounds very easy and the thing is it actually is. Best place to do this is ClickBank, we can find a product (personally best if you purchase the product) and we can analyse everything from their product, to their sales page, to their bonuses and so on. By all means we do not copy their sales page and try to duplicate their products and bonuses we just see what they are doing and again we have a foundation for creating our own product.
Instead of competing join them (JV Partners, Affiliates)
So if we see our competition has a hot product and we do not want to go out straight away and create our own product, then all we have to do is go for the "lazy marketers" approach and basically just go out and sell their product as an affiliate. Of course we are not going to get the same amount of profits as we will only get paid a commission for whatever we sell. So the other option is for when you actually have your own product is to team up with your competition by doing becoming Joint Venture Partners. This is by far the best way to get sales. You think about it if you have a product all it takes is for you to find a couple of big players within that niche with big lists and come to an agreement with them on how much you are willing to pay them etc and all it will take is for them to send one email out to their list and you will start to make money! Who ever said competition was bad. A good example of someone who does this is a guy from the UK called Matt Wadsworth. I heard a great Interview with him the other day and the majority of his sales comes from Joint Ventures and hes only been doing it for over a year and is making six figures! Pretty amazing if you ask me.
So when you think to yourself I don't want to tackle a certain niche because it has a lot of people in it think again as all you need to do is piggyback and get a chunk of the pie which all the top marketers in them niches are getting.
