Liver disease is a condition that inflicts more people that we realise. If you suspect that you may have a liver disease symptom, it is important that you also review your other symptoms to help you determine whether it is necessary for appropriate action to be taken to protect your liver. In many cases of liver disease, an overuse of alcohol is the cause. Liver disease shows a direct relationship between the amount of time and volume of alcohol consumed and the severity of damage to the liver; although overall health, nutrition, and genetic predisposition have some impact. Malnutrition increases the odds of having liver disease.
Another common cause of cirrhosis of the liver is hepatitis, which is caused by infection with either the C virus or the B virus. The C variety is the most common reason in the United States for the decline of the liver. On the other hand, Hepatitis B could be completely eliminated if only everyone were vaccinated against it.
If you suffer from two or more of the following symptoms chances are you suffer from some form of liver disease.
Liver cancer has symptoms that include weight loss and loss of appetite. Abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, fatigue, accumulation of fluid in the abdomen, enlarged liver, change of color (yellowing) of the skin and the whites of the eyes are also noticed. Bile duct obstruction has symptoms like pale stools, dark urine, abdominal pain, jaundice, vomiting, nausea and fever.
Symptom of liver disease also includes blotting or distention of the right side of the abdominal part below the lower ribs due to hepatomegaly or ascites. If distension gets sever then the patient might feel pain while breathing, due to pressure in the diaphragm.
Excess body weight. Because the liver is in control of your body's metabolic rate, when there is liver disease your metabolism is impaired. This often leads to obesity (and extreme weight loss in later stages).
Headaches and a foggy mind. Without proper energy sources and due to the pile up of toxic substances (which your liver was supposed to get rid of) brain cells won't work properly causing a foggy mind and headaches. Some doctors believe that liver disease can cause Alzheimer's disease, though no studies have shown a link.
Liver failure is the serious medical condition that does not develop overnight. It gradually develops number of years. Some of the symptoms of liver failure:
Loss of craving
Sickness or nausea
Exhaustion
Bulge in stomach
Easy Blood Loss
Jaundice
Bewilderment
Tiredness
Unconsciousness Mind
These are some symptoms that notify the development or occurrence of liver problems and liver failure in the body.
Fatigue is the most common symptom of this disorder. Seventy to eighty percent of all the patients suffering from this disease experience this symptom. However, fatigue is generally not an indication of the severity of this disorder. As the disorder progresses, other symptoms may arise, such as hypertension. As the disorder progresses even more, the ability to absorb fat-soluble vitamins will continue to decrease. As the disorder progresses further, autoimmune disorders will begin to develop.
