Most marketers are focused on building a large list, but they're completely overlooking an equally important activity in list marketing – and that is to prevent their existing subscribers from unsubscribing or removing themselves.
No matter how many new subscribers you're getting daily, if your unsubscribe rate is nearly the same – or worse, more than the opt-in rate – then your list building efforts would be fruitless.
To prevent your list from unsubscribing, you should treat them properly by building good relationships with them, and ultimately getting them to like and trust you as time goes on. Getting their trust is the key to making large amounts of money with your list.
In this article, you'll discover 4 trust building tips to get more of your list to stay and drop your unsubscribe rate.
Trust Building Tip # 1: Overdeliver.
Give them more than they expect. Impress them at the very first chance you get. First impressions tend to stick, and they will associate that nice experience with you every time you communicate to them.
A great idea to impress them would be to give away some of the best excerpts or samples from your product. Some marketers are reluctant to provide such information for free because they thought that it will devalue their product.
But it actually works in reverse, because if you want to convince a potential client that you are the best authority to help solve their problem or fulfill their need, giving them a prime sample of your expertise would do lots in gaining their trust and confidence in you.
Trust Building Tip # 2: Use The Products You're Promoting.
It's highly recommended that you actually go through or use the products you're promoting, if you want your list to continue trusting you.
You don't want to just throw any product their way just to earn some commissions; because if you start giving them bogus information and crappy products, you would lose their trust and respect faster than you can say "Wait!"
They relied on you, the expert or authority on the subject, to choose the best recommendations for them. So do your job. Even just one instance of getting dissatisfied would kill your chances of getting them to buy from you again.
But when you have their undoubted trust, almost any product you promote to them will be patronized (if they need or want it, of course).
Trust Building Tip # 3: Reply And Help Them.
To help enhance your relationship building, answer their emails and help them personally. When a subscriber asks questions about a particular concern, you need to give them the best information you could provide, instead of simply posting a link for them to go and see a product.
If every time a subscriber asks you a question and you throw a product in their face, they may begin to lose their trust in you... because it looks like you just want to sell something to them, and not sincerely help them.
Give them good advice. In many cases, most subscribers have the same issue or problem. So everytime you share an important and clearly-thought advice, save it as a template to be used again when another subscriber asks a similar question.
That way, you will impress your subscribers because they think you took the time to answer them with step-by-step clear explanations. But what you just did is mostly copy and paste the same template over and over again.
Here's another great idea: You can create an e-Book containing your subscribers' most burning questions and your answers to them. Now you got an instant product that your list can relate to!
Trust Building Tip # 4: Make Sure Your Autoresponder Messages And Links Are Updated.
Most marketers have an autoresponder series that all new subscribers will receive on pre-assigned dates after they subscribed.
But the problem is that some of these messages and links might be outdated. Some of them may talk about topics or trends that are only fitting during the time the message was written. For example, you wouldn't want to say, "President George Bush did..." when he's not the current president anymore.
And what about the links? Some of the affiliate links in those autoresponder messages might already be going to an error page. Or the affiliate program may not be working anymore and you're promoting a product where you're not earning any more profits.
That's why it's advisable to give your autoresponder sequence a quick check every once in a while – perhaps once a month or every two months would do, depending on the circumstances affecting your niche and the products you're promoting.
Hope these trust building tips help prevent your subscribers from unsubscribing, and instead persuade them to stay and buy from you more often.
