Exfoliating skin care products are still a popular treatments to help you remove dead skin and

bring a refreshing glow to your face. A lot of cosmetic companies market their version of a

facial scrub as "the latest technology in skin care". Do we really need the someone in a lab

coat working for a cosmetic company to tell us how to exfoliate our skin?

A while back I wrote an article entitled "Sugar Sweet Beauty" which contained easy and

economical recipes using sugar to effectively exfoliate your skin. I cited that a lot of the

products on the market used sugar as the main ingredient in their products. Sugar produces

glycolic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid, which is included in many skincare product lines.

There is also another component that skin care companies are raving about for deep

cleansing and exfoliating the skin. It's enzymes. Enzymes are mostly derived from "live

foods" such as fruits and vegetables. Not only are they able to break down fats, proteins and

carbohydrates, they are also known to help remove toxins from the body. Sounds like the making

of a very effective skin care treatment.

Again, you do not have to invest in some of the pricey facial masks that contains enzymes. You

can make your own inexpensively. It starts in the produce section of your favorite grocer. One

particular fruit I like to use is pineapple. Pineapple contains a powerful enzyme called

bromelain. Bromelain has been shown to be anti-inflammatory as well as a powerful cleanser. It

has been used to help relieve pain, swelling, and tenderness due to injuries.

Here are a couple of facial recipes to help you benefit from bromelain derived from pineapples:

Pineapple exfoliate moisturizing mask

Note: honey is a powerful astringent and moisturizer.

Ingredients

  • 4 large pineapple chunks

  • 3 tablespoons of grapeseed oil

  • 1 tsp raw honey

Blend all the ingredients in a blender until the mixture is smooth.

Apply on the face and leave on for 10-15 minutes.

Rinse with cool water and pat dry.

Skin Tight Mask

Note:Egg whites help tone and tighten the skin.

Ingredients

  • 2 large pineapple chunks

  • 1 beaten egg white

  • 1 tsp of raw honey

Again, blend all the ingredients in a blender.

Apply the mask on the face and lie down on a flat surface. Leave on for 20 minutes.

Rinse well with tepid water and pat dry.

After using these facial masks, you will notice how clean and soft your face will feel. These

facial mask can be applied to your face 2-3 time a week. Using the power of bromelain in

pineapple does not have to complicated or scientific. You can quickly whip up a powerfully

effective exfoliating mask in a few minutes to treat your skin to a wonderful mask.
