The dramatic effects of ultraviolet radiation in deteriorating the skin's natural cell structure have been well established. Studies show that the more the skin is subject to extreme temperature or the heat of the sun, the more skin cell breakdown and damage occurs. Imagine your skin laid out on a scorching heat with out sunblock protection. Light skinned people for obvious reasons need extra protection from the sun as melanin is not predominant in their skin as opposed to dark skinned people. Melanin is one of the body's natural defenses against the harmful ultraviolet rays. However, even people with dark skin tones need extra precaution when exposing themselves to too much sun.
The effects of ultraviolet rays are evident on the skin surfaces in the form of fine lines, acne and dark spots. Prompt dermatologic treatment is advised as sunburn usually develops and in this case salvaging the damaged skin may not be possible. A good dermatologist's advice is valuable to treat whatever damage sunburn has caused and to prevent further damaging the skin. There is nothing more conventional than using a sunblock that has an SPF (sun protection factor) of 30 and above, dermatologist's recommends using sunblock as a primary Ultraviolet Rays protection 30 minutes prior to sun exposure and 15 minutes then after. If you have an appointment with your dermatologist for an exfoliative treatment or microdermabrasion, your doctor might delay the session for a couple of days until the damage of extreme sun exposure (sunburn) dies down or the doctor would usually give/administer topical ointments or lotion to treat sunburn.
People who work or play outdoors or just love lying in the sand to get that perfect tan should consult their dermatologist to get first hand information on whether it is wise to submit for microdermabrasion and exfoliative treatments and at the same time not compromising their job outdoors and their lifestyle. Seasoned experts say that skin abrasive therapy and ultraviolet rays is not a good combination and may just add insults to injury, literally and figuratively. That is why precautions in keeping an undamaged skin are given for people who are actively exposed outdoors so as to avoid even graver complications of ultraviolet exposure-Cancer. Although it may seem unrealistic to avoid certain amount of damage, as cell breakdown can still occur even if a person is wearing sunblock. There is no absolute guarantee that skin be maintained and further damage be prevented, however proper management is key to the skin's youthful and Sunkist glow.
Dermatologists would give you a heads up on going around a good schedule for the best time to "soak up the sun" and measures to avoid sun damage like hydration or water therapy to maintain the elasticity of the skin and rejuvenate your entire body, aesthetic alternatives such as expert dermatologist products and of course, the skin's staple-Sunblock.
