Your skin is the largest organ in your body and the most noticeable area of the body. Acne is a skin disorder that usually occurs during adolescent years, when hormonal changes occur. Acne is not only limited to teens as it greatly affects adults too. Regardless of race and age everyone has had an experience of acne in some point of their life.
Although acne is not life threatening, it can be a bothersome lifetime problem if not treated correctly. Our body contains 60% of water and if you loose water it will put you into dehydration. One may loose too much water without noticing, keeping your body hydrated is important to your body and to help fight acne. Water contains anti oxidants that will help in the flushing toxins. The amount of water intake needed, depends on the activity and weather condition. Excessive heat can easily dry up your skin and will leave you dehydrated. By eating fiber-rich foods such as whole grains, lentils, beans, dark green fruits and root vegetables prove to help keep your skin healthy. Try to limit or completely avoid alcohol intake, as it can cause further outbreaks of acne. Your skin can benefit from caffeine, it increases metabolism by burning fatty acids that contributes to acne outbreak. Caffeine is also known to strengthen the muscles of your body. Drinking coffee in moderation at least two cups a day, can keep your skin looking healthy.
We have all heard that avoiding sugar is good for your body. Sugar contains glucose that warps the protein in the body. The cells in your body such as our hormones, enzymes, red and white blood cells and other nutrient carriers are made of partly sugar. Coating cells with glucose will hinder them in doing their functions properly. Collagen is an essential part of the skin and is made up 40% of protein. Coating it will glucose may cause tremendous damage in the skin which will result in acne.
Do not eat food that contains chemicals or additives including processed food and canned goods. Chemicals can be harmful in the body and can cause acne outbreaks. Try to avoid oily foods also. Instead of frying try your chicken boiled, steamed or baked. Fatty foods such as butter, cream, cakes and ice cream can also contribute in an outbreak of acne.
Using the wonder of Aloe Vera as astringent has proven to help fight skin disorders. Avoid using make-up and topical treatments that has high acid content. If topical treatment cannot be avoided, choose creams and lotions that contain natural products to avoid adverse chemical reaction.
The skin is a determinant of our body. Skin with impurities means that toxins are very high in the body and should be flushed by a detoxification diet. Many treatments are available in curing acne from surgical, laser or even topical treatments that often leaves us spending more then we would like.
