Jamie Gold lives in Malibu, California and is one of the biggest stars in the world of poker. He won the WSOP championship in 2006 which totaled over 12 million dollars which made him the biggest winner in poker history. He is famous for his cool attitude while betting high amounts of money and for his aggressive playing style.

Jamie wasn’t always a poker player by trade; in fact he used to be a talent agent. He is responsible for bringing stars such as Lucy Liu, Jimmy Fallon, and Kristin Davis to the spotlight. At the age of 21 he founded a new type of talent agency called JMG Management. Through this companies involvement with the word of poker, Gold became close with poker star Johnny Chan who gave the young businessman a few tips about the world of professional poker.

Gold entered the 2006 WSOP as a well known celebrity player, but soon took out his competition and moved up the ladder, leaving his other celebrity companions in the dust. After playing for 7 days and taking out his competition, he was offered a contract to join the world of professional poker. Hours after this invitation, Jamie Gold won his first WSOP title.

Jamie attributes the poker bug to his mother, who was an avid poker player while Jamie was growing up. His grandfather was also a gin rummy champion and he and Jamie’s mother supported Gold as he entered the world of professional poker. Jamie talks often about how his family helped him feel like he could keep going when he felt that he couldn’t. Gold also attributes his poker skills to the acting talent that he is constantly surrounded by. Gold is very talkative while he plays and gets to know the players in a calm smooth way so that he can learn their hands and styles of play.

Jamie is well known for his charismatic and carefree approach to the game. Every day that he played in the 2006 WSOP, he was seen snacking on a bowl of blue berries. Why blue berries? He was eating them when he won his first round and didn’t want to change anything he was doing so that he could continue to win. Apparently lady luck was on his side as we won the largest winnings in WSOP history.

After Jamie’s first big win, he ended his contract with Bodog.com and became the head of an entertainment company called Buzznation. Months after his large win at the 2006 WSOP, he began work on a new reality show. His story is really amazing as he practically came from nowhere to come and win the 2006 WSOP to make poker history. When asked if he will continue to play, he expressed that he has a deep love for the game of poker and may continue playing. If he does continue to play, all eyes will be on him to see if his already monster popularity in the poker world will continue to grow.
