Golfers today, especially newer ones, tend to hit the ball to places where they can never seem to find them. For these golfers, there is a good understanding about the value of playing with used golf balls. They are often refurbished and play about as well as some of the newer ones with a few exceptions. When golfers have a slice or a hook, though, it is very useful to play with these to save the cost of the newer styles. In addition, they will often play the same way as many of the newer ones which golfers could use.

There are many ways that the golfer can find a golf ball that works for them and their game. There are a variety of options regarding finding and purchasing these and the avid golfer will often find one that suits their game specifically. For instance, there are used and refurbished balls for the long game, the short game, the power game and the iron game. Depending on the preference of the golfer, the appropriate one can certainly be found.

Not only are these available online through manufactures that specialize in them, but the golfer can also find them at their local golf shop. In many cases, the hazards will be raked and many balls will be found, cleaned and resold for a fraction of the price. These should be used for practice rounds or other unimportant golf outings, since the condition and the potential quality of play cannot be as well established. Sometimes they will be "dead," or lacking in action, bounce or reaction. Most golfers would not want to risk their game with these, but can find use for them in many practice scenarios.

The allure of any type of used equipment is the cost savings. The golfer needs to decide if the lower cost of these outweighs the degradation of performance from a new golf ball. In many circumstances it does, especially if they are purchased from a refurbisher. Often they have very similar attributes to a new ball at a fraction of the cost. In addition to cost, these will often come in very large volumes, which is very convenient. For instance, golfers can buy bags of 100 or more from many companies, ideal for those that like to practice tee shots at home or in fields where they tend to hit many at one time before retrieving them.
