When it comes to charity events there are all sorts of things that you can do to raise money. One of the first factors which has to be considered is where your event is actually going to take place. A popular venue is always in your local pub. Lots of people see this as being the best location as most people have come out for the evening to enjoy themselves and are willing to get involved in anything that is going to be good fun.

Having a themed evening is always a good idea and it is bound to be very enjoyable. People love to be a part of something and if you can come up with an idea that is going to appeal to both young and old, then you are onto a winner. A good place for you to start when you are looking for an idea would be to think about recent films that have been popular with most people.

How about pirate costumes for your charity event? The recent series of movies with Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley have been immensely popular with a very varied audience. This could be a great place to start and it would give you a really good theme to work around.

If you create a strict dress code of pirate costumes only, then people are immediately going to become involved. Even if they are just going to put on a bandana and an eye-patch for the evening then they have at least made a small effort. Don't make them too serious though, they need to be fun. You should also bear in mind that some of the people wearing pirate costumes will, by now, have perhaps had a few too many... Don't come up with anything that demands huge amounts of sobriety.

The most important thing to remember is that your charity evening is good fun for everyone who attends. If you manage to make it an event that is enjoyed by all then it may become the first of many. It is a fine balance to attain; you need to make the evening fun but everyone should also remember that it is all being done for a good cause.
