You know its true. There are times when you feel overwhelmed with life, work or a project. But, you still make excuses for not outsourcing.
I know this is at least partially true for you. I know it is for me. When you take on a new job, you give it everything you've got. But, you get stuck because there are never enought time to get everything done.
That's just the way it is. You can't make time out of thin air.
There can be many causes of running out of time. You get a little behind and work piles up, problems creep into the mix, or tasks just take longer than you thought they would. Before too long, the little thinks become monsters, and you are competely overwhelmed.
This is true for most people at some point or another. Regardless, we still won't rely on outsourcing. Of the many excuses people use for not using freelancers, here are 3 of the most common.
PriceMany people talk about the cost our using outsourcers. No matter where you are in your business, money is always in short supply.
The funny thing is, we reject hiring contractors that we can get for less than $5 / hr. Your time has to be more valuable that that. Even if you are just starting out and working for free, there are better places to put your time than less than minimum wage jobs.
If nothing else, go get a part time job. And outsource the project tasks you don't like. Chances are your part time job will at least make you a profit.
Less ControlAre you afraid to give away any control on your job or business? Maybe you feel that you can do the job better yourself, than any one else you could possibly hire?
You are right, but using outsourcers is still extremely valuable. However, you have to understand that your time is more valuable when spent on other tasks.
Here is an example using a value of $40 / hr. We already established that no one can do your job as good as you can. But, can someone do it 13% as good as you? You have the value of 8 outsourcers. Not every project or task works out exactly the same, but this gives you an idea.
The fact is, you can hire many outsourcers for the value of what you are worth. That way your time is freed up for quality control. You are still "hands on" but you aren’t doing the repetitive boring part. Also, this way many jobs are getting done at once, reducing project time significantly.
You Don't Know Where to Find OusourcingIts possible you don't even know where to look for freelancers. Fortunately, this is the easiest excuse to overcome.
There are companies world wide that focus on connecting freelancers with employers. Each project has a different contract, so you can get a very specific quote on cost before you begin.
Freelancer.com and Elance are just two of the many possible websites you can visit for help on your project. Do an internet search for the task you are looking for will bring up many results.
Sure, there are lots of excuses for not finding a freelancer. However, once you understand how cheap, efficient and easy it can be, those excuses fade fast.
You can't outsource every task or project. And for tasks that can't, you should do those yourself or have employees do. Outsourcers are a great option for repetitive, boring jobs, or jobs that require a technical skill that your company will not need employees for on a full time basis.
Look into using outsourced labor today. More importantly, start learning how you can use contractors to their best advantage. The best way to start is with one small task. The best idea is to pick a task you already hate.
And give it a shot. I am sure you will discover how valuable it is, and you can start outsourcing more. Your business will start to grow like crazy.
This might be blunt, but if the time you spend on a project isn't worth at least $5 per hour, and your time isn't more valuable elsewhere, it might not be worth pursuing.
