You don't have to rely on fancy acne treatments from the pharmacy that will cost you an arm and a leg. Instead it is time to consider some tried and true natural remedies. If you ask me, they often work a lot better then the artificial stuff and are much gentler on your body.
There are a few things that work well for just about anyone, and then there are various tonics and masks made from all-natural ingredients that will work wonders for some and not for others. The trick is to try various ones and see which ones your skin responds to best.
I'll share a few of those natural treatment options with you here and hope you will give them a try and find the one that is just right for you and gives you that clear, radiant skin.
The first thing I recommend you do is to write down every single thing you eat and drink. Then eliminate one type of food that is considered to be causing or aggravating acne. An example might be chocolate or potato chips. Remove it completely from your diet for a week and see if your skin starts to improve during that time. Also make sure you drink a lot of water. Personally I try to aim for at least eighty ounces per day. It will help keep you hydrated and flush toxins out of your system. It goes without saying that you also want to make sure you continue to regularly clean your skin.
Now let's move on to the actual natural acne treatments. Below you will find a list of quite a few suggestions. Try one out and see how your skin reacts. Try each for about a week and again, keep a journal so you can see which ones your body responds to best.
After you wash your face in the morning it is a good idea to use some sort of antibacterial toner. My favorite natural option is Witch Hazel which can be found online or at natural food stores. Not only does it keep bacteria out of skin pores, it will also tighten them which will instantly improve the look of your skin. A paste made from water and plain old baking soda will help treat acne inflammation right away. Spread this paste all over your face and keep it on for a good 15 to 20 minutes. Baking soda naturally balances out ph and will get your skin back to where it should be. When the time is up, rinse the paste off with plenty of cool water. Use a clean cloth to dry your skin. Avoid rubbing and use it to pad your face dry instead.
You can also use vinegar. I find apple cider vinegar to work best. I dab it on my face regularly when I'm just hanging out at home and before bed. The vinegar will dry out the acne and also help reduce the appearance of scars over time.
Both Tea Tree Oil and Aloe Vera have been shown to help with acne. For best results, combine the two. I like to get Aloe Vera gel and then mix in a little tea tree oil before applying it to my face. I have been using this combination for over a year now and when combined with exercise, propper diet and staying well hydrated it keeps my acne at bay better than anything else.
Grab a journal and pick one of the options we've discussed above. Then just give it a try and see if it works for you and your skin. If not, move on to the next natural acne treatment. In time I am sure you will find some things that will work well for you.
