A huge problem that a lot of people have today is they suffer from skinny fat syndrome. Sure you're skinny and can fit into your jeans just fine, but your body fat percentages are through the roof. If you think you're healthy, forget about it. In fact, skinny fat people are more susceptible to problems throughout life because they think they're fine.
Besides, wouldn't you prefer to have that toned, lean look that would make everyone at the beach envious of you?
I find that most people that have the skinny fat syndrome are really at a loss at how to lose their flab. Usually they exercises pretty regularly, eat pretty well, but they just don't see any results. This can be extremely frustrating and it's really the main cause of why people just stop caring after a while. I mean let's face it; if you haven't made much progress is several months, how can you get the energy to go workout for the sake of working out?
Well I've got really good news and some bad news. The bad news is you've probably been exercising completely wrong this whole time. We except that running on the treadmill or riding the exercise bike 45 minutes a day is fine, but it's really not. Think about it like this, do you know many distance runners with an enviable physique? Heck no they're usually really skinny and have very surprisingly high amounts of fat on their bodies.
OK so enough of the bad news, the good news is two fold. First, it's very easy to reverse this wasted time in a matter of a few weeks. Second, you'll spend less time working out and your energy levels will start blowing through the roof. I already alluded to it earlier; if we don't want to look like distance runners, who do we want to look like?
Sprinters!
If you think about it, just about every pro-sprinter has an absolutely amazing body. And it's because they're training routine consists mainly of one thing: interval workouts. Intervals are basically sprinting for a short period of time, resting, and repeating several times. A typical workout would consists of 8 sets of sprinting for 20-30 seconds and walking for 60-90 seconds. However you can tailor the workout to whatever exercise you want: swimming, biking, heavy bag punching, jump rope, etc. Also, do the math. With a warm up and cool down, your workout will last 20 minutes or so.
Intervals are phenomenal and for the skinny fat syndrome because they A) force your body to break down fat for energy as your body typically runs out of carbs to burn and B) raise metabolism and keeps it high for 24 hours after you've finished working out. They also promote lean muscle growth, meaning you burn even more fat and calories throughout your day. Start training with interval workouts today and get that lean, ripped looking body.
