None of our guests at the Mendoza’s 5 Stars Hotel want to miss the slightest chance of fishing in Cuyo region. Its rivers and lakes have pure waters, where huge quantities of incredibly beautiful fishes can be caught. Fishing lovers from all over the world come to Mendoza to get their most extraordinary pieces. That is what Cuyo region is all about, a place made and meant to be one of the fishing poles in the world. That is the reason why many customers of the Mendoza’s 5 Stars Hotel think about this destination as a major priority in their holiday agenda.
Cuyo region is placed on arid ground. However, people have managed to turn Mendoza’s dry soil into a fertile and productive land. Dams and hydroelectric exploitations have been built over the numerous water resources this province has, so they can use them to generate electricity and to irrigate the entire zone through channels and tubing systems. That is how they provide water and energy to their towns and cities. Moreover, they grow enormous vineyards and use the lakes for leisure activities.
Salmon can be fished in almost every river and lake all the way through the hills. The brown and rainbow trout can be found in torrents and streams next to Malargüe, Rio Grande and Salado, in southern Mendoza. Up to the north we can get to the Atuel River, then to the Nihuil in the Valle Grande dam. Diamond and Atuel Rivers supply the reservoir Los Reyunos, where the largest rainbow trout all over Cuyo region habits.
Environmental reasons limit fishing to a specific number of species. This means that we still can fish, but we should do it in the lakes, rivers and reservoirs specially indicated for that activity, and the amount of fishes is restricted. That is why there are so many artificial lakes, where huge salmons, trout and even mackerel can be caught. On the other hand, none of these specimens is as typical and abundant as the silver smelt. They are everywhere and can be easily caught. When the fishing day is over, it is time to get are back to the Mendoza’s 5 Stars Hotel.
In order to get to know most of Mendoza and its surroundings, we should ask to the Mendoza’s 5 Stars Hotel personnel. They will be glad to help us and to organize exciting and amusing tours and activities for us.
