Welcome to the club, oily and greasy hairs are more common than what you think. Your hair gets tangled easily, it is hard to style and every kind of debris and dirt gets stuck to your hair; hundreds of women have to face these problems and do it with success, thanks to a few helpful tips. First of all look on the bright side, your hair doesn’t get dry or breaks easily, then let’s take care of the unpleasant look and awful smell that it develops from the accumulation of sebum, your heads’ scalp natural protective oil. Here are our tips.
Daily Wash and a Good Shampoo
People look at you as if you need to get under the shower more often; oily hair gives you a look of someone that does not have proper hygiene habits. But the root problem isn’t much if you wash and care for your hair in a daily basis, the problem either is in your genes and comes through hereditary channels, or is related to your hormones. Especially when you enter your menstrual period, when you get pregnant and it is very common on teenagers, all because of raging hormones. In some cases it can also be related to a poor choice of hair care products. Oily hair also comes along with oily skin, acne and dandruff, which is a nasty combination of symptoms.
To take care of this, you need to wash your hair daily. Use a shampoo without conditioner or other additives, avoid components like "sodium laureth sulfate", they will coat the hair and help your natural oils come back and run down the tresses of hair. Use a separate conditioner and use it only in the tips of the hair in case they get too dry. Choose a nice hairdo that will both make you look at your best and is easy to wash and brush. Rinse your hair very well, if you leave shampoo in your hair it will increase the greasiness and attract even more dirt. Do not brush too much or it will only help spread the oil again in the hair. Follow these tips every day when you wash your hair.
Homemade Remedies for Oily Hair
There are a lot of homemade remedies for oily hair that women have been using for decades, and actually they are very effective if you don’t mind using them in your hair. You can use: Alcohol diluted in water, it is great to dry the hair and get rid of the excess oil; Cider vinegar also diluted in water, it helps to remove extra shampoo left over; all kinds of Teas, like Lemongrass, Chamomile, Eucalyptus, it works as an astringent with tannic acid that cuts the oil; Beer also works well, like Alcohol, it dries the hair from the oils; and Lemon Juice, works like the Teas. These remedies will mostly cause dryness, leaving your hair dry from the oil, but also your scalp. A dry scalp will cause itchiness and will lead to even more production of sebum. If you use these homemade solutions, wash your hair with a nice shampoo and rinse your hair very well afterward.
Talk to your favorite hairdresser and find out what products are the best for your special hair condition, some products can prevent the passage of the excessive oils from your scalp to your hair, don’t use moisturizers or any cream based product. Wash your hair every day, choose an easy to style hairdo and above all, look beautiful. Feel like you are at the top of the world, nobody will look down on you again.
