I'm sure many people out there in the network marketing industry are like me. I was taught to build my business the old mlm way. What I mean is my mentor instructed me to create a name list. This included friends, family, coworkers, and any other acquaintances.

After that I was to offer them a chance to join me in business. If they decided not to join me then I would try to sell them some products. Like many people using this old mlm teaching the list dwindled in the first month.

After my list ran dry, my coach taught me to go out look for new people daily to keep the list of prospects going. Again, like many out there I ended up hanging out at malls, grocery stores, gas stations, etc just to meet someone new that day.

I did this for 5 years in my first mlm company and no profits. Actually I was in the hole due to marketing and personal growth tools I purchased. I definitely wasn't financially free like the plan showed. Everyday my emotions went up and down. There had to be another way.

I thought that if I could get more leads then I could show more plans and sponsor more people. I knew things were moving toward the Internet so I began my quest to find out how to generate leads online.

I quickly found out that you could buy as many mlm leads as you wanted from different places on the net so I did. I called tons of people on these lists with little results. However, I soon discovered that I was having the same outcome with those people as I did with those I just met on the street.

I spent countless hours and thousands of dollars on the net looking for some way to find success. I knew network marketing worked, but how could I find a new mlm method that would work for me?

Finally, I ran into some people who knew some people (networking, duh?!) who introduced me to a new mlm concept that was the paradigm shift I needed to change to explode my business.

It's called attraction marketing. Here's how it works. Basically, I was able to build a list (word of mouth) or buy a list (online), but the problem wasn't the number of people on my lists. It was the type of people on my lists. I didn't know them from Adam. Furthermore 99% of those people didn own or want to own a network marketing business. They were cold contacts. Not only that, but I was constantly chasing them trying to sell them on my opportunity. I had it all wrong. I didn't know any different though. I had no marketing or sales background just what my upline told me.

So you see, the new mlm way to do business is simple. First of all you must become a person of value. You must give that value to others. When you become valuable people will be attracted to you. You can multiply these results rapidly using Internet marketing strategies to expose your value to more people.

Once you are able to market yourself and build a new mlm list online that is just the beginning. These people still don't know you that well. You must then build a relationship with these people and continue to add value to them through information, motivation, videos, articles you've written, or any other way you can help them without expecting anything in return. Once you have a relationship with your list then you can market to them easily, because they have already bought into you as a leader in this industry.

So the new mlm method is to market you. There is so much noise out there you need to stand above the crowd and reach out to help people. When you do that prospects will be calling you to get in business with you!

Please leave a comment and let me know how this helps alter your mindset toward your business.

I know it changed my world when I heard it!
