Secret Snow Zone of Austria

Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol has a long skiing history associated with it. It has been home to winter Olympics twice. The two times were in 194 and in 1976. Innsbruck itself is not a skiing region but it is circled by eight small ski areas which are quite close to Innsbruck.

The nearest ski area of Innsbruck is the Seegrube Nordkette. This area is visible from the center of the city and it offers one of the steep terrains. And you will see that if you are traveling in large cable car you will be moved from 575 meters to 2255 meters in very less time. Hence skiing in this area can be a rewarding experience altogether.

Another area close to Innsbruck is Axamer Lizum. Going to this place from Innsbruck takes around 45 minutes. It is true that this terrain is small but it is steep and gives a lot of opportunity to a skier who loves adventure. This spot is very much apt for skiers who love a free style. But not much of options are available in this terrain. There is a restaurant in the terrain that can offer a hearty meal to the skier. And there is a small tepee in the region which offers gluwein and that can be the best way a skier can relax after an entire day of skiing. People who are planning to spend a night in the Axams cannot do so because there are no proper living places available in the area. So to do so either you have to go down to a village in Axams or you need to return to Innsbruck to have a safe night.

An area of 300 miles is covered by skiing terrain in Innsbruck which can be reached quite easily from Innsbruck city. You can reach these places by a public transport but it is always better that you hire a car for the service because car rent is quite cheaper in Austria.

A ski area which is small has a charm of its own. As the area is small the environment can be friendlier and the skiers can feel a lot more comfortable. On the contrary if you go to a large area for the sake of skiing you will not experience the thrill to such a large extent.

If you are on the look out of a ski trip which has ample excitement and as well as the amenities of the city Innsbruck can be the best place for you.
