I am sure all of us have been approached by salespeople to buy all types of products or services. Sometimes we buy even though we do not need these. We may be approached at the shopping mall, or we may get a phone call at home.

Alternatively, we may get propositioned online via email and forums. Often, we feel that we are being harassed as these sales offers are not solicited by us.

Whether we like it or not, many companies and individuals are now cold calling more that usual, to get business prospects and sales. The issue with making cold calls to sell a product or service is that the seller just "takes", and does not give the potential customer any value back. In addition, many in the sales line are too pushy, so it is natural that the potential customer resists buying.

You may be wondering if I am out of my mind not thinking straight. How can you sell without really selling?

This method is really simple and effective. Before selling to anyone, you need to make your potential customer feel that he got a good deal or something of value from you free, without any obligations. This free product must have a good perceived value, and something that your prospect feels is useful.

Once they get this free product and they try it out, and if you suggest to them to buy an upgraded version of this product or service, they will be so grateful to you for letting them buy the second product or service.

Let me give you a real-life example –

I approached one of my acquaintances Victoria and told her that I have a bottle of vitamin E Kiwi drink for her. I give this to her free of charge, and asked to drink it over the course of the day.

I tell her that she will see the benefits of drinking the product the next day, one benefit being that she will notice that her eye bags are reduced substantially.

The next day, I met up with Victoria. She was very happy with the results, as her eye bags have disappeared as a result of the drink. I next show Victoria an upgraded version of the drink, this time it is a vitamin C and E, Collagen infused Kiwi drink. I assure her that the benefit of this drink is even better. Not only does it remove eyebags, it reduces wrinkle on the face. I tell Victoria that I have only ten bottles of this upgraded drink, and that she can have it for thirty dollars per bottle. Victoria immediately jumped on my offer and confirmed her purchase of ten bottles for three hundred dollars. She was so grateful to me for letting her buy the last ten bottles of this miracle drink that she thanked me profusely and promised to recommend all her good friend to buy from me.

So you can see, from the above example, I have sold something to someone without actually selling. On top of that, I get extra sales referrals from my grateful customer.
