Shopping online for your next Jiu Jitsu Gi purchase could be difficult. So many brands, colors, weaves etc. makes it so hard to choose which Jiu Jitsu Gi would be the right one for you. Price also plays a big factor as most Bjj Kimonos are averaging about $150 today. Well you are in luck because in this article we will go through seven things you must consider when purchasing your next Jiu Jitsu Gi.
Jiu Jitsu Gi Fabric – The fabric used to produce your Bjj Gi could be an important factor. The most common types are Gold Weave, Double Weave and Single Weave Gis. The type of weave you decide to go with is up to you since it is mostly a personal preference but most people go for the single or pearl weave gis. The main thing to consider, is to make sure the gi is constructed from a single piece of fabric. If it is made in two pieces you must look the other way.
Pre Shrunk – Generally it is better to get a pre-shrunk Jiu Jitsu Gi so the shrinkage on the Gi is minimal. However, it really is not that big of a deal since the ones that are not pre shrunk will just shrink to fit you. Also be aware that although Jiu Jitsu Gi companies claim their Gis are pre shrunk expect minimal shrinkage to occur since it is still made of cotton.
Collar and full Lapel – Make sure there is rubber inside the lapel. The lapel should be not too thick and not to thin but made just right. If it is not made of rubber it is not a good choice.
Standard Colors – The standard colors for your Bjj Kimonos are white blue and black. Preferably I would recommend going with either a white or blue Gi as some competitions don’t even allow black Bjj Kimonos. The reason you must go with one of these colors is because these are the standard colors allowed in Jiu Jitsu competition and most schools won’t allow you to wear any other color Bjj Gi.
Tapered Body and Sleeves – Most Jiu Jitsu Gi brands out there have their Gis tapered well but some still don’t so keep a look out. You don’t want your Bjj Kimonos to be to baggy either.
100% Cotton – All Bjj Kimonos must be made of 100% cotton. No exception could be made on that part unless they are made of similar material.
Price – last but not least is the price of the Jiu Jitsu Gi. With the average price of a Gi being around $150 today it seems like you must be rich to train. We all know the economy is horrible now so saving money is the main concern. If you are like most people the economy has hit you hard and you are short on cash. Do some research before your next purchase because there are quality Bjj Kimonos out there for under $100.
With all these steps considered; Get your next Jiu Jitsu Gi made the right way! IBJJF approved! Sold only at the ultra popular SubmissionFC online store!
