Cause marketing. Social Good. Philanthropy.

However you name it - compassion is always at the core while giving back, and that is terrific branding for any entrepreneur.

In my entertainment PR days, cause celebrity marketing always won the attention of the media fast and today is no different now with social media leading our marketing efforts.

You may be wondering how and what do you post on Facebook to make your cause marketing campaign stand out to inspire donations?

I composed a list to get your started. Hope this is helpful!

  1. As you get donations from friends and family, not only keep the mentioning the total money raised but thank the individual person in the fan page posting like: "Thank you so much (tag name) for being my first donor! A shout out to (name) for your generous donation. Hey (tag name)! You are the best! Thanks for the donation! This is so exciting!"

(BTW, tagging is letting the person know on their personal page you have mentioned them) you place an @ before a name as you type it and a drop down menu will come up with the name and click on it. The name now is a hyperlink and posts to the other person's wall.)

  1. As you get donations from unknowns, do a thank you like "there are plenty of compassionate people in our world! More donations keep pouring in! Join in the cause....."

  2. Go to your charity's main website and pull excerpts (facts, figures, details) from the pages (copy and paste) them into a posting with a commentary. Add photos with these posts and or video or a website link. If there are celebrities attached to the cause, use info from the main site or Google events they were involved in with the charity. Gives credibility.

  3. As a rule of thumb: Post 2 factual posts a day and 1 inspirational on your fan page.

  4. Post 1 factual and 1 inspirational on your personal profile page. Example inspiration: "Be the change you wish to see in the world (Gandhi): The power of one. Will you be the one that makes a difference in the lives of others?

Since social media has leveled the playing field for all of us, I am always encouraging my coaching clients to create cause marketing campaigns using Facebook and Twitter or just post their philanthropy activities on their pages with photos and videos. This makes for GREAT content.
