How to Improve Productivity

Most retail chains are faced with tremendous difficulties and obstacles that must be overcome in order to make money. One thing that many consulting firms stress is the necessary ability to be productive. Being productive is more than just being at work and being engaged in a task. It is the art of getting the absolute most out of each hour of labor. Hours spent counting inventory stock levels and trying to determine where missing merchandise is are arch-rivals of productivity. Luckily, there is an antidote to these poisons and that antidote is called point of sale software. You might be thinking, ?And just how does point of sale software cure all of these problems?" By streamlining your business and increasing efficiency, that's how.
There is not a more menial and time consuming task on this planet than counting inventory stock levels. It is especially wasteful because you had to count many of the same items when they arrived 4 months ago and you already recounted them at the last inventory overhaul two months back. A POS software system can put an end to all of this time being wasted. By consolidating and combining tasks, your system will keep track of all of the inventory stock levels and erase the need for bi-monthly inventory counts. When the shipment arrives, you only have to grab the point of sale software compatible bar code scanner and scan each product into the database. From there, each item will be monitored by the software and when it is sold, the system automatically removes it from your stock numbers.
You will no longer need to guess about the sale of individual items. Just search the SKU in the point of sale software and it tells you how many are left in stock and how many have been sold since the arrival of the last shipment. In fact, the software is so intelligent that when products reach a certain predetermined stock level, the point of sale software will automatically send you a notification saying that it is time to reorder that product. This is possible when using hosted Software as a Service (SaaS) systems.
Another obstacle to productivity is inventory shrink. With traditional ways of inventory management, it is quite easy to lose track of items. If hosted point of sale software is handling the inventory management you will always know which items have been sold and which have not. That means that if the software shows that there are 5 items in the stock room and you only have 2, you know that your inventory is disappearing without being sold. All of this information is courtesy of your hosted SaaS point of sale software. With this new knowledge you will know that it is time to step up security in your stock room. You will also know that it would be wise to interview each of your employees to find out if they have any information about the stolen merchandise.
The problem is a lack of productivity and the antidote is hosted point of sale software. Using a hosted system gives you real time answers that allow for greater inventory management.
