Here's a fact that you have to accept first: the only answer to the question "how to get a toned body" is exercising regularly. There is no way around it. There is no magic pill or quick-fix method either. Nevertheless, you have to know the right way to exercise or you end up wasting your time and energy. Read along to make sure you do it in the right way.
To achieve a nicely toned body, you must get your body fat percentage down to a certain level. The right body fat is around 10% for men and about 15% for women. In terms of exercising, there are two things you need to do:
Strength Training
Strength training isn't merely for weight lifters and anyone who attempts to gain muscle. A study from the famous Journal of Applied Physiology shows that strength training boosts metabolism by 10% after exercise and increases fat burning by 100%.
Of course, you can’t get this wonderful result by doing it in the classic way such as train one part of the body each day or depending on supplements. The right way to do it is by doing a few supersets consecutively where each superset contains 2 exercises for 2 different muscle groups. You are able to complete the whole supersets a lot faster than doing the standard strength training ala bodybuilders.
Furthermore, with the right strength training, you put "turbulence" in your muscles; as a result, you get increased metabolism and fat burning rate after the workout. Put simply, doing strength training will enable you to keep burn calories and fat long after your workout. That is how you build muscle and get rid of fat at the same time.
Another false impression in strength training is it makes women bulky, thus a lot of women choose to avoid strength training. This is totally a myth since women don’t have nearly sufficient testosterone to get bulky. By staying away from strength training, you are making the entire process of gaining a toned body harder by yourself.
Cardiovascular Exercise
While strength training has its own advantages, cardio is still the key menu in burning extra fat. However, the majority of people do it in the wrong way. Ordering expensive treadmills, elliptical exercise machines, stationary bicycles, or any other fitness machines won’t give you the outcome that you want. The men and women in the advertisements didn’t obtain their perfect body through the machines they promote; I’m 100% certain of that one fact.
Doing long and monotonous steady paced cardio on your machines will only waste your time and won’t get you anywhere. The right way to do it is applying interval training in your cardiovascular exercise. For instance: if you run, keep alternating between standard jog and sprint; this way, you’ll get much better result within lesser time.
By keep switching your exercise from low intensity to high intensity, you’ll make sure that your metabolism rate remains high. This can guarantee fast fat loss; something you won’t get in a typical cardio.
That is how to get a toned body. Obviously, you have to watch what you eat everyday and fix your lifestyle too. Healthy eating and enough rest per day will boost your every effort to have a toned body. Therefore, what you need to do now is exercising at least 3 times a week and learn a bit about healthy foods. Once you get used to all of that and make them into habit, you'll get your toned body even without you realize it.
