The Reasons Why You Should Add Exercise Bands To Your Workouts
I just started working out with resistance bands a little less than a year ago and they are fantastic. I have been exercising at the gym for about 20 years and consider myself to be in pretty good shape. Nearly a year ago, I switched jobs and don't have the time to go workout at the gym during the week. I bought some workout equipment for my home so that I could workout when I got home but I wanted to try something new. I got the Tony Horton P90X program and I bought some resistance bands. I was in absolute shock that my muscles were in pain almost every time after I used the exercise bands. Resistance bands allow you to work your muscles during a complete range of motion. Some of the exercises require more resistance, so you may need to double or triple up on the bands. Even if you are going to try some of the boot camp exercises, the exercise bands are great.
Some of the exercises that you can do with exercise bands are triceps extensions, curls, rowing, bench press type movements, shoulder exercises such as presses, squats with added resistance, etc. You can even work your abs by locking a resistance band in the door and doing a chopping type movement. The sky is really the limit when it comes to different resistance band exercises that you can do.
You would probably be better off getting I would recommend that you get a complete set of exercise bands because similar to working out with weights, you are going to be able to lift more weight in some exercises than others. Another thing that you are going to need is a door attachment. A door attachment allows you to attach your resistance bands to the seam in the door to allow you to do exercises such as rowing and bench press movements. What is also nice about having a complete set of these resistance bands is that if you need to add a little more resistance, you can double up on the bands.
Give it a try…the resistance bands are quite inexpensive and you can get a great workout.
