Covent Garden Market was once just a market with fruits, vegetables and flowers. Goods were brought to the market in boats going up the Thames River. Theatre Royal

London’s oldest theatre The Theatre Royal is located in Covent Garden. The current Theatre is a Grade 1 building and has hosted several shows and events. Shows are usually run from 10.30 am to 7.00 pm.

The London Transport Museum displays 80 road and rail vehicles to represent public transportation in and around the city. 60 out of the 80 collections are kept at the London Transport Museum in Acton.

Christmas at Covent Garden

The best time to visit Covent Garden is certainly at Christmas and New Year. Throughout Christmas season, from mid November to 5th January, colorful lights are lit up throughout Covent Garden. Shopping in Covent is more special for the collections on all goods. Special events and shows, carols and Christmas food make the district a celebration spot filled with all that is needed for complete enjoyment.

Covent Garden Tube Station is the nearest tube station. There is only one bus route to the district. But, several routes run close to the district. If you want to enjoy shopping at your convenience, it would be better to travel in private taxis. Bear in mind, you will not have public transportation on Christmas Day and limited transportation on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.
