If, like me, your belief of a excellent holiday is to party all night and dance until you drop, then you've probably already been to Ibiza. Even though, it is part of the Balearic islands, Ibiza has earned a name in its own right as a clubbers dream palace. Another nickname for Ibiza is the clubbing capital of Europe.

I remember my first vacation to Ibiza and every night I was in the wide variety of clubs that grace the island. These started off in Playa D'en Bossa at the celebrated 'Bora Bora' beach club, where the music starts at noon and the DJs arriving at tea time. Then it would be on to somewhere like 'Pacha', 'Amnesia' or 'Privilege' to dance until dawn when 'Space' opened its doors and welcomed us in to stay on the party.

To finish off the week correctly, on a Sunday we would head to Bennirras Beach and listen to the hippies playing bongo drums until the early hours of the morning. After Benirras beach, I would always go shopping for beads, tye dye shirts and hippy souvenirs to take home for all my friends. That is another thing that Ibiza is wonderful for. Shopping.

During my time on the Island, I have also learned that there are lots of hidden gems about Ibiza. There are over fifty beaches on the island, most of which are brilliant sandy stretches fringed by clear shallow waters. The beach facilities are fantastic and not just for clubbers! Families, especially couples with young children will adore these beaches.

The water sports facilities are too numerous to list but include things like windsurfing, water skiing, scuba diving, snorkelling, banana boats and pedaloes. If you want to rent a boat, then hire it for as many hours as you want to; feel like royalty when you rent a luxury yacht for the weekend. Relaxing on the beach with an casual dip in the sea, is the perfect way to get a tan.

Of course there are many other things to do and see on Ibiza. Even history buffs will be delighted to learn that it dates back to ancient times when Phoenician settlers set up a trading port there. There is an ancient shrine to the Phoenician lunar goddess in one of the many accessible caves, and monuments and churches dating back through ancient times. Don't forget about the capital of Ibiza which is Eivissa. The walls of the town date back to the 16th century.

If you require an apartment overlooking the beach, then you are not short of choice.I can never tire of Ibiza; every time I visit I discover something new. Everybody is made to feel welcome when they visit Ibiza. It may be an historic island but it is one that is constantly changing to accommodate the changing tastes and needs of its visitors.
