Airline passengers in the US have seen some names pass that seemed to be mainstays to the flying public. But that is the nature of the airline business because it is an incredibly difficult business sector. Hard times have hit everyone, including Philippine Airlines. They actually went into receivership in the late 1990s and only came out of it in 2007. But through it all, they don't seem to have lost the fighting spirit that they started with in 1941. They are aggressively upgrading their fleet to current standards by purchasing the latest technologically equipped aircraft.
Philippine Airlines owns a world class facility and learning center where students are prepared for all sorts of different aviation jobs. Of course the learning center is located in the Philippines and provides an excellent service for their country. When you think about it, you can see that the center is a big asset for the country and it was smart of them to build it. At the PAL Learning Center students are trained in a variety of airline industry professions including airline technical, frontliner, management and cabin crews. For students who are especially motivated, they can attend the PAL Aviation School to become professional airline pilots. The PAL Aviation School is fully licensed and widely regarded as a premiere professional airline training facility. They offer a wide range of classroom and non classroom training for people who want to be pilots and first officers.
Like many other major airlines, Philippine Airlines offers many hotel and tour packages to their passengers. Great effort was invested in choosing programs and packages that will offer the greatest variety for PAL's customers. This means no matter what your preferences, you should be able to find something that suits your tastes. PAL's exclusive catering to corporate frequent fliers is well served this way. They even created a special department that provides custom business frequent flier packages. This how they are able to completely accommodate their corporate business customers.
All of the passengers who fly Philippine Airlines fly Mabuhay Class Business Class on their flights. This means that the tired and busy business people who fly this airline get more leg room and seats that are more comfortable. The latter is also termed, advanced seating ergonomics, but that basically means the seats are more comfortable. Economy seating is called "Fiesta Class" and it works just like the economy sections in all of the other major airlines. Longer flights on PAL involve in flight servings of breakfast. You are also given a kit with a slumber mask, socks and toothpaste in it (they call them "amenity kits"). The story of Philippines Airlines is a great story of business survival in the face of all sorts of varying political and economic conditions. There is quite a lot to be gained from learning the story of a company that fought to stay afloat for more than sixty years. Since working through an almost collapse recently, they have invested in millions and millions of dollars in fleet upgrades as well as buying two Boeing 777s.
