Welcome Back My Friends To The Show that Never Ends

Ok, I admit it, I have been a rock n roll junkie most of my life. Lately, there has been a little more R&B going on in my house since my oldest Josh wants to be a professional musician and R&B is his preferred music. More on that later.
So I honor one of the most talented musicians in a single group, Emerson Lake And Palmer, by using lyrics from their masterpiece ‘Karn Evil 9 which are "Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends were so glad you could attend come inside come inside" For some reason during the past week this song kept popping up into my brain and I kept thinking to myself that for me everyday life is the show the never ends (and I am not in such a rush to know what happens when the show really does end if you catch my drift). When things are going great isn’t life the greatest show on earth, but when the proverbial junk happens the show is much more difficult to be part of. The differences for me which make life different are strictly how I react to all the different acts of the show that occur on a daily basis. And I know the better I look at problems, and not personalize them, the better I deal with them and the show is a much better one to be in.
Which leads me to a great editorial I read in Men’s Health where the editor equates anger as the crack cocaine of emotions. As David Zinczenko writes about anger "It might feel good in the short term, but over the long term, anger is really bad for us". He goes on to tell how anger can tell our body to store fat and stop building muscle. And we already know that when you get angry your blood pressure goes up, and one can start lashing out and saying things they will eventually regret (ask me how I know). This is something I have been working real hard on for a while and I can honestly say that I am grateful to be able to say "Welcome Back My Friend to the Show That Never Ends.."
So a little follow up on Bubby (aka Robert Lewis) who I wrote about in last week’s blog. On his own he asked me to be his friend on facebook and posted a picture of him with my son, Josh and me, where he called me an awesome dad. I had another patient Mr. Colby Veil of Hollywood Roses post another picture of Josh and me with him at the show. What was amazing to me was that all different people were coming up to my son, Josh who is just 20 years old and were talking to him. When I asked who they were one guy was Christina Aguilar’s bass player, another played bass for Erykah Badu, and his bass teacher is currently on tour with Chaka Kahn. I guess he is hanging around with the right crowd. I am proud of him.
I also want to give a shout out to my other son, Joey. He had his AP history teacher take him aside and let him know how proud he was of Joeys efforts so far this semester. Seems Joey did about the best in his class on the first test of the semester..way to go Joey. I am proud of you as well.
Something fun I have been working on with Coach Marla. Our dental office is going to have a "SHAMELESS PLUG FOR OUR PATIENTS AND FRIENDS" page on our website. I figure that if you feel good enough about letting our office take care of your dental needs that the least we can do is create an area where our patients and friends can be made aware of your business. We are going to need a photo, a logo if you have one, website url, 2-3 sentence description, phone number and address and if you wanted to post a special offer for people who see your plug on our website…GO FOR IT. If you are interested please feel free to contact me at my office email address jengel@socaldentalhealth.com
Until next week Enjoy the Show
