This is one of the most difficult questions to answer. First off, men don't normally "diet." They see dieting as something their girlfriends or wives do. Next, men are just normally big eaters. This sweeping generalization certainly won't come as an insult to most men who have very healthy appetites.
The funny thing is, if men actually dieted the way women do, it would be such an easy thing for them. They have a higher metabolic rate than women, thus making it easier for their bodies to burn calories and excess fat. What makes them even luckier is that they have a lower propensity to store unwanted fat.
However, a more health-conscious male population have begun to see the importance of a healthy diet in an obesity-tormented world. As fats begin to pile in their midsections, men know that they do not want heart disease, hypertension and certain cancers to become a part of their lives. Men are now more proactive in their search for the perfect diet plan to complement their exercise regimen.
Now, the question remains: What's the best diet plan for men? Is it the high-protein/low carb Atkins Diet? Perhaps it's the Ornish or South Beach diet that would best suit them. Unfortunately, men don't often comply with these diets because of a number of reasons. It could be that these are too restrictive or don't jibe with the lifestyle of the dieter. Most of the time , however, men fail to comply with the requirements of these diet because they just lack the motivation to follow through with it.
Still, were faced with the question with what the best diet plan is for the testosterone-driven modern male. In reality, there is no specific diet that fits the unique personalities and dietary requirement for each individual man. Thus, the best approach to this problem is for the motivated man to formulate his own diet plan based on proven and healthy eating principles and practices.
To guide you in the formulation of your own plan of your own diet, here are a few tips to keep in mind:
-
Pick your foods from a variety of natural sources. This means vegetables, fruits, whole grains, dairy, fish and lean meat like beef and chicken. Instead of ice cream, go for low-fat yogurt.
-
Keep hydrated by drinking 8-12c glasses of water a day.
-
Don't skip breakfast.
-
Divide your meals so you take them at least 6 times in a day.
-
If there is any food that you must absolutely give up on, it has to be soda. One can has over a hundred calories, so you can imagine how much you would lose simply by eliminating soda completely from your diet.
*Make sure you eat when you're hungry. Don't put your body in starvation mode otherwise you are going to wreck havoc on your metabolism.
Choosing the best diet plan for you is really a matter of choosing something that won't alter your eating habits in a major way. Should you follow a diet plan it would be ideal to make only minimal changes to your current eating patterns. Otherwise, you won't be able to stick with your diet plans for the long term.
