Moisture is the primary cause of mold buildup on indoor and outdoor surfaces. If a surface is moist or wet, it most likely will attract the spores that are produced by mold. If life is possible, these spores will begin to grow and produce mold. Mold abatement for your Seattle home is necessary if the level of mold inside a home or building reaches certain unhealthy levels. High levels of mold growth are likely if there is a significant amount of water or humidity present. In addition, it can occur wherever food is found.
In order for mold to start growing on a surface, there are certain elements that must be present. For example, cellulose inside a home or building is likely to attract mold spores. Any moisture that is present will attract these spores as well. Once these conditions occur, mold generally will start growing sometime within the next 24 hours.
Mold inside a building causes harmful substances called Mycotoxins to build up and they can be inhaled by people or animals. For health reasons, it is important that any mold buildup inside a structure be eliminated as quickly as possible. Once mold is discovered, it is recommended that the home or building be ventilated as quickly as possible. Poor ventilation will cause moisture to build up very quickly. Mold abatement is the most important thing a person can do to make certain that the inside of any structure is a safe place to inhabit.
So, what can be done to eliminate indoor mold? First of all, finding and stopping the moisture source is important. Then, steps must be taken to remove the mold that has accumulated on any surface. This can be done by using common household cleaning products, ventilating the area as much as possible and allowing sunlight to enter the structure through open windows and doors. In some cases the mold build up is so great that only a professional can get rid of it. There are many companies specializing in mold removal and they can be found quickly via the internet.
The cost of removing mold from the inside of a home or building depends on the extent and type of mold build up. Small amounts of mold can usually be eliminated easily but larger quantities may require hiring outside professional contractors to do the job well. Mold abatement must be done in order to promote a healthy environment for indoor inhabitants. The overall benefits far outweigh the cost of preventing and destroying the accumulation of unsafe mold spores.
