As mentioned in one of my other articles, I was re-reading the book of a great entrepreneur. It's called "Pour Your Heart Into It" by Howard Schultz, CEO of Starbucks. I highly recommend it.

It's an incredible story of entrepreneurial ism, and it got me thinking of a couple things. Most of all, results. The results Howard Schulz is getting, and how to transpose those into my life.

In any case, your results, are based off something. Simon Sinek calls this your "Why". Let's dig a little deeper.

When I was faced with the decision to try something new, or carry on my then miserable life, I suddenly knew that I was going to make a change. In that moment I realized what I had to do. I also realized that if I didn't seize the opportunity my moment would pass. If I didn't step out of my comfort zone and risk it all, nothing would come of it.

I knew that if I didn't take advantage of this emotion, this feeling, this knowing, this opportunity to completely make a transformation, I'd replay it in my mind for the rest of my life. I would always be wondering, "what if?", "why didn't I?" I understood this was my shot. Even if it didn't work out I still had to do it.

As I reflected on that I somehow knew the move was consistent with my life's dream. With my earliest desires to do something for myself and my family. To achieve something unique. To be in complete control of my own destiny. Insecurity, a desire for respect, the burning need to rise far, far, far above circumstances.

Circumstances of me being trapped in my day job, with no way of advancement. Circumstances of breaking a generational pattern in my family's life. It all came together in one defining moment.

Part of what constitutes success is timing and chance. But most of us have to create our own opportunities. More than that, we have to be prepared to jump when we see what others can't (or choose not to) see.

Don't get too caught up in your thoughts. Swing into "doing". Strength of action is essential. It's one thing to dream, but when the moment's right you got to be willing to leave what's familiar, and go out and find your own way. One of my favorite quotes is by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. He says, "We judge ourselves by what we feel capable of doing, while others judge us by what we've already done." This is a by-product of the actions we take each and every day.

Every entrepreneur's dream is to start with a great idea and build a business that is profitable and sustainable. Trouble is most of us usually have to start as an underdog. People shut you out, they regard you with suspicion, and, believe me, they're going to undermine your self-confidence. They're going to offer you every reasonable, unreasonable and imaginary concoction of thought as to why your idea simply won't work.

Being the underdog though has a flip side. Because facing such adversity can be invigorating. You get to finally feel awake. In my case, part of me relished the fact. Especially when family members said that "your idea of being an entrepreneur and walking away from a secure job just couldn't be done, you're crazy, you're nuts." But I was committed to breaking the chains of circumstances. No matter how many times people put me down, I believed strongly that I could pull it off. I was so confident of winning that I enjoyed being in a position where people's expectations were so low that I knew I could beat them.

Nobody ever accomplished anything by believing the naysayers.

It's those who take the road less traveled who create now industries, invent new products, build long-lasting enterprises, and inspire those around them to push their abilities to the highest levels of achievement. This is the core of who we are at Carbon Copy Pro.
