Loss control inspections are performed for Insurance companies by a loss control inspection company such as Majestic Service Company, in an attempt to prevent any losses for all parties involved. Loss control inspections differ from the typical Insurance inspection that first comes to mind. Home Inspections performed in preparation for the sale of a house is what most people think of first. Home inspections take place before a house is sold to make sure that the home being sold doesn't have any problems that are unknown to either the seller or the buyer. These inspections are typically performed by an independent inspector, who performs their work on behalf of a bank or the buyer of the home.
Loss control inspections are a completely different ballgame. Insurance companies request a loss control inspection when they are insuring a residential building, commercial building, auto fleet, mixed use building, commercial property, vacant buildings, etc. The type of insurance coverage - general liability, workers compensation, property - along with the type of risk being inspected - residential apartment building, commercial building, tenant occupied storefront - will determine what the loss control inspection company is inspecting, as well as what type of report they provide to the Insurance company requesting the inspection.
Loss control inspections, also known as insurance inspections, play a critical role in the Insurance process. Aside from a home inspection, the other type of insurance inspection that usually comes to peoples mind, especially when referred to as loss control inspections, are inspections that take place after a loss occurs, such as after a home suffers fire damage. On the contrary, loss control inspections are performed to try and prevent a fire from occurring, thus they are also sometimes referred to as risk management.
Although these types of insurance inspections are performed to try and reduce any potential losses, there is only so much a loss control inspection company can do to help the insured and the insurance company in their attempt to make sure that the risk is eligible to be insured. For example, if an insurance inspector was performing an inspection at 3PM today on a residential apartment building, and at 4:30PM someone dropped their grocery bag on the steps on their way up to their apartment, which in turn cracks the step which causes someone else to trip and fall when they came home from work at 6:30PM, well, you get the point.
Performing the insurance inspection is just one part of the loss control inspection process. A report is generated that is reviewed by quality control to make sure that the information obtained during the inspection and the information that is on the report matches up. Loss control insurance inspection companies carry a lot of responsibility in the grand scope of the insurance inspection process, which is why it is crucial to select a reputable and reliable insurance inspection company.
Majestic Service Company has been performing loss control inspections since 1962. They are located in Valley Stream, NY and service Insurance companies in the New York Metro Area, as well as 20 additional states nationwide.
