Green tea has been considered by many as a very potent drink for losing weight, In fact, countless commercials on TV claim that it is the ultimate solution to those unwanted body fats that you have been trying to get rid of for years. But, is it really effective in losing weight? Is it really the elixir that will answer all our weight-related problems or is it just purely a product of media hype?
The fact of the matter is that green tea alone does not really contribute significantly in losing weight. Drinking green tea alone without doing exercise and watching the diet intently is never enough to shed off excess body weight. However, using this drink as a diet aid can help you reach your desired weight fast. Here is how green tea can help one in losing weight.
Drinking this beverage regularly hastens your body's metabolic rate. Substances known as catechins or polyphenols are present in this drink which helps the body reach a very high metabolic rate. This substance causes the body to burn food quickly, thus decreasing the amount of body fat. Moreover, catechins act as barrier to the usual movement of sugar in fat cells as they intensify the body's oxidation rate. All these things will lead to faster conversion food to energy and increased burning of fats.
There are four types of catechins in green tea. The most potent of these four is known as epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG. This catechin helps regulate one's appetite. In short, this substance make one eat less. When the food intake is reduced weight loss will follow.
Another interesting catechin that we can find in green tea is known as an energizing catechin. This catechin gives you the power and endurance that you need to perform those strenuous exercises routines. The more you exercise the more fats you will burn and consequently the faster you will lose weight.
This healthful beverage also increases the noradrenaline in your body. This is very helpful since your noradrenaline is the neurotransmitter that is responsible for the activation of brown fats in your body. Brown fat is the only active fat in the body and the one that should be burned in order to lose weight.
Another important thing is that this drink is loaded with substances that fight off free radicals in the body. It contains a lot of antioxidants which the body will always need in order to ward off those harmful chemical that we take in from the environment and through the food that we eat. Antioxidants slow down aging and they also shield us from many types of cancer.
Green tea has a lot of essential benefits for our body. Other than a supplementary drink for weight loss, they can also give us immunity to certain types of diseases. Drinking at least 2 to 3 cups of green tea each day can certainly go a long way in making the body attain a certain level of wellness. There are so many kinds of green tea in the market today so just look around and find the one that perfectly suits your taste-- your cup of green tea.
