St Annes, also known as St Anne's-on-the-Sea, is a charming town located on the Fylde Coast overlooking the Irish Sea. Founded in 1875, the town of St Annes was planned out by Elijah Hargreaves, a businessman, who saw immense potential while visiting the area today known as St Annes. Elijah Hargreaves had a great vision of creating a picturesque town which would draw crowds of tourists eager for a serene vacation. Today, St Annes is bustling with visitors and attractions, yet is still able to maintain its natural sense of calmness, providing its lucky visitors with a small taste of paradise. St Annes offers many venues for the young and old alike. Known as one of the best places to retire, St Annes is also the perfect weekend gateway. Hotels in St Annes are plentiful and of a very high standard. Hotels in St Annes are adept at providing their customers with the best experience whether they be a couple seeking a romantic vacation or a family wanting to spend quality time together. Whatever your purpose may be in visiting this delightful town, rest assured that Hotels in St Annes will live up to your expectations.
For those looking for a unique travel experience, St Annes has that to offer in the form of the old Victorian pier. The pier was built in 1879 and officially opened in 1885. Over the years the pier underwent numerous renovations while remaining true to its heritage to become what it is today. While walking along the pier you can indulge your inner child by playing an arcade game at the arcade centre or take a seat at a cosy cafe and enjoy a cup of tea, as your gaze drifts over the beautiful green-blue waters of the Irish Sea.
Rich with history, St Annes is home to the heritage mural, embroidered by the St Annes Broderers. The mural allows visitors to take a peek into the history of St Annes, an intimate glimpse of the towns past. The mural itself is 18ft long and 6ft high and is made up of seven individual panels. St Annes Broderers began embroidering in 1989 and finished their mural in 1996.
St Annes is just along the coast from Blackpool, a town famous for its miles of sandy beaches, and awarded the Quality Coast Award by ENCAMS in 2010 as an acknowledgment for its clean and safe beaches.
Visitors may also treat themselves to a leisurely walk in the ornamental gardens. St Annes has numerous parks with safe playgrounds for children and breathtaking gardens which visitors can enjoy. Known for its Golf Links, St Annes is also sure to please any golf lover. The Royal Lytham and St. Anne's, Fairhaven, Lytham Green Drive and St Anne's Old Links are four of the champion golf courses available and are all within walking distance from the many Hotels in St Annes.
Located in the town is Wood Street, the place where the whole town comes together to enjoy the most excellent cuisine around. On Wood Street, you will find Greek, Mediterranean, Japanese and Italian restaurants, along with brand name boutiques and flower filled walkways creating the perfect setting for a relaxing time.
