Did you know that if you are taking antacids regularly to control symptoms of acid reflux may actually is making your condition worse?
The mistake many people make is to assume that heartburn is a sign that your digestive system is very acidic. This is not true. Your body needs stomach acid to digest food, the problem is not too acidic, its that the acid escape and reach places that it should reach. If you continue to neutralize the acid that your body will start producing more.
Think for a moment, what the process that the food must pass so that your body can extract nutrients and dispose of waste.
Cut small pieces of food and then chew the food well so that it becomes a paste before swallowing. The preparation of food for digestion in the mouth is for two things: It compresses the food and the food is mixed with saliva for the enzymes can begin to decompose.
After swallowing the food it must pass easily through the esophagus to the stomach. Once in the stomach the food comes into contact with a very strong acid that can break it down more quickly.
In the stomach food is also mixed with fiber which creates bulk to your bowel to move food effectively, helping nutrients and waste pass quickly from your system.
Unfortunately, if we're honest, we don't support this process very effectively. Do you commit the following common mistakes?
Eat fast and swallow large pieces of food!
Eating until you feel more full which means that the stomach can not do its job effectively
Putting a strain on your digestive system by eating large quantities of highly processed foods that contain high levels of fats and sugars that are difficult to process. And
eating a diet low in fiber!
Nobody a car to run efficiently without the proper fuel and a little care. Would you buy a car if he knew the previous owner was a young boy racer who had thrashed the car every day, where he had accelerated hard regularly right from the start, never checked the oil and coolant or left the car without a service for years?
If you want to have a digestive system that works as well as a car with good service then you need to make some simple changes in your diet and start eating in a friendly way to avoid heartburn (acid reflux).
Be sure to chew your food so that your stomach has an advantage when it starts to digest it. Eat small meals so there is space in the stomach for the meal for it to be mixed with acid. Over fill the stomach and the acid is forced out of the esophagus
Reduce consumption of processed junk food and Increase the amount of fruits and vegetables in your diet to increase fiber...And be sure to Drink plenty of water
Watch for foods that cause you heartburn -acid reflux, so you can reduce or avoid them
If you make these changes you'll be able of reduce the amount of antacids you take and eventually dispense with them altogether. Now that sounds like a great plan to me!
