If you are seeking to improve your memory without using invasive tactics, playing a game, or performing simple exercises daily will do the trick. Being frustrated and embarrassed about remembering things can be a thing of the past. There are different ways to improve this by implementing some simple techniques into your daily routine.
Try finding creative things to do during the day in order to exercise your brain. Although your brain does not contain muscle, it still needs to be exercised. Exercise your mind everyday with activities that you normally do. For instance, let's say you have a passion for watching TV. If you enjoy watching game shows, play along with the contestants. Play a game with the commercials instead of turning the channel. The commercials that seem to be on a lot throughout the show, pay close attention to these. Before the next commercial break, try to guess which commercial you think might be coming up by remembering the ones that have reoccurred during the show. Or maybe you love to read the newspaper everyday. Try solving the New York Times or other puzzles provided in the newspaper that you read everyday. This will definitely exercise your mind. By just simply reading also exercises your brain. Reading out loud helps you to concentrate on the information that you are taking in so that you can recall it later. Or you can use everyday mundane activities that you do at work to exercise your memory. Attach a color to everyone at work at the start of your shift. When your shift is over try to remember the colors you assigned to everyone. On your way to and from work test this exercise to see if your memory is improving. Try taking a different route to home one day. The very next day, see if you can remember the new route that you took the day before.
Exercise your brain with a new activity that you have never done. This helps to improve your memory. For example, learn a new language. If you already play a musical instrument like piano, try learning to play the organ. If you have always wanted to dabble a bit in writing but never had the courage to do so, try writing a short poem. This is will exercise your mind as well. If you enjoy looking at model cars and ships in magazines, try building some of your own. You really need to concentrate when working with small details and following instructions like those involved in building a model. This is a great way to practice and hone your concentration skills. Paying better attention to what you are doing at the moment is an easy way to improve your memory. One of the reasons we forget things is because we get distracted by other things going on around us.
Whenever possible practice on improving your memory with these easy methods we have discussed thus far. Practicing these memory games are not limited. You can use almost anything to employ them. You can use these memory games while eating out at a restaurant by randomly assigning the other patrons cute and funny names. See how many names you can recollect before the waiter or waitress gives you the check. These simple games can also make the time fly when you are standing in line at the post office or waiting in line at the grocery store.
