Tai Chi has been practiced for centuries as a martial art and form of exercise. People can perform the exercise even if they are not in the best of shape. And after practicing Tai Chi movements for a few months receive many benefits from continuous practice. Lets look at some of the benefits of practicing this ancient art below.
Decreased Stress: The practice of Tai Chi is great for reducing stress, which many people suffer from. The combination of slow motion movements and breathing triggers the body’s natural relaxation response, which reduces stress After around ten minutes of practice you will start noticing that your tension and stress levels will decrease. And after a few months you will notice your overall stress level in life reduces.
Improved breathing: Many people ignore their breathing unless they have problems with it. A exercise program though that uses this practice will help you focus on breathing. When your breathing patterns become deeper and more complete (as opposed to shallow breathing which a lot of people do by default) through practicing the Tai Chi Moves you will enjoy better health overall. Adequate amounts of oxygen will feed your body, and your body functioning will improve.
Internal conditioning and flexibility: Many people focus on building their muscles, hearts and lung power. Many other parts of our body though are ignored such as the liver, kidneys and other internal organs. Chinese internal arts help condition these organs through breathing and flowing action.
Meanwhile setting at a desk all day and the average office day encourages the body to lock tensions in the muscles and connective tissues. The flowing motions of Tai Chi loosens muscle and the fibers that connect the muscles together. This decreases the possibility of pulling a muscle or hurting yourself by accidentally moving too far in one direction.
This is the tip of the iceberg on the benefits you can obtain by regular practice in this art. With it being easy to practice and providing benefits in so many areas for the time invested a weekly or even daily practice can help improve your health in the first month and for as long as you practice Tai Chi.
