Warts on feet can be transmitted in a swimming pool and other wet areas very easily.
Plantar warts are lesions that typically appear on the sole of the foot. They tend to look like cauliflower. They are thick patches of skin with dark spots. When the warts are repeatedly scratched, it can lead to bleeding and be very painful, particularly when walking or standing for prolonged periods. This also makes spreading the infection easier.
It is estimated that between 7-10% of people are infected in the United States alone. Most often, an infection on the feet has come from swimming pools, public shower rooms and other moist, public places where people are barefoot. Yes, warts on feet can be transmitted in a swimming pool. And the virus common among plantar warts is capable of surviving for months without its host, making it highly transmittable, even touching the wart itself.
The infection starts when skin comes in contact with the human papilloma virus, which then attacks the skin. Plantar warts are considered a clinical infection, meaning that the symptoms are visible. However, after the initial state of infection, warts on feet may or may not be visible at least for several weeks and are usually visible within 2-9 months of infection. Also, the pressure and weight bore by our feet often pushes the warts inward over time, leaving a layer of hard outer skin covering the wart. So, if you have small cuts in the outer layer of skin, you are very much more likely to get an infection when going to a public pool or shower.
More often than not, warts on feet are harmless and can resolve themselves. But they can be unsightly and even painful, not to mention contagious. The goal of wart treatment should be to get rid of the wart without forming scar tissue. this can be very painful and treatments can take weeks or months for many remedies. Most people seek over the counter products before seeing a doctor and can spend a great deal of money either way.
Warts On Feet Removal
There are four commonly used treatments for removing warts. The first is salicylic acid, which softens the skin surrounding the wart, allowing it to be sloughed off. A second treatment is to put duct tape over the wart. This softens the skin and prevents it from being contagious. The third is over the counter cryotherapy, which will try to freeze the wart. The last is to go to the doctor for cryotherapy, which is painful. There are no guarantees the warts on feet won't come back with any of these methods of wart removal. There are factors that determine if you are more at risk to get the warts and ways to prevent them if you are at risk. People with weakened immune systems are more susceptible because they are more likely to catch viruses and the warts come from a virus. Also, children, teens and young adults are more prone to get them. Remember, warts on feet can be transmitted. To prevent them, avoid being barefoot in places such as public pools, showers and locker rooms. Do not use other people's towels or other personal items. And lastly, if a wart is visible, don't touch it.
