Here are five tips for business cards that will get the job done, no matter what the job is for your specific need.

  1. Focus on quality, not expense – Business cards are more than out takes from the phone book. They serve as a picture of your organization carried with those you hand it to. The image projected by your business cards

  2. Make the cards count – Make your cards a marketing tool. Hand two or three to everyone you speak with, so they can pass them on to others when the opportunity comes. This will not only give you an opportunity to advertise services to those you speak with, but also to those that they speak with in turn.

  3. Add Value – To increase the value of each of your business cards, print a usable backing on each one. Not only should they be great looking and bare contact information, but including something useful like a coupon or a referral discount will help ensure that your cards don't end up in a dumpster.

  4. Better to many, than to few – Order enough business cards that you aren't afraid to hand them out in mass whenever given the opportunity. While you shouldn't order so many that you're overstocked for years, ordering enough to provide an overabundance will help you feel more compelled to give them out.

  5. Avoid being too creative – While it's important to use business cards with visually pleasing and easy to use layouts, be careful not to go to far. No one likes receiving oddly shaped or sized cards which don't fit in standard business card containers. Furthermore, all text should be easy to read; no 'bizarre" fonts or colors.
